zerorust, easy to use, you need to prep but not in a ridiculous fashion as other paints require, bonds well, repairable, has been 4 years on my fj40 frame and underbelly and no peelin, fading, etc. and plus it is much cheaper than others out there. very happy with it, I will be using it on the upcoming 55 buildup.

although por 15 is a pain in the ass to apply it works increadibly well at stoping rust in its tracks. I stored my rusty cruiser for 4 years out doors. Directly before storage I coated some of the body panels which were rusting with por 15 to prevent the spread of rust until I could properly restore my cruiser. All of the panels that I coated did not have any sign of rust, but areas where I had not coated ( because no rust was evident at the time of storage) now have significant rusted areas :frown: . I should have coated the entire rig in por 15 then. Now I am about 70% done with my rigs bodywork and I have coated the entire body, every part, inside and out with por 15. This product works!

Rust Bullet. Durable, no top coat required. Easy to apply and I second the don't get it on anything that you don't want it on. Seems there was a story floating around about some poor guy that got it on his hands and had to whiz? :-)

POR15 requires much more prep work, and from my husband's truck it is coming off the springs after about 2-3 years. On my cruiser, we used Rust Bullet and found it easy to use, and it gives a nice smooth finish.

I also used Rust Bullet and POR-15 on my rig when I did my frame swap. The POR-15 has begun to flake off but the Rust Bullet has been holding up much better.

although not as prevalent in our community as POR 15 or Rustbullet, I have heard realy good stuff about Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator paint

also, they have a good write up on a head to head with POR 15

For those that used Rust Bullet, anyone ever spray it on? All the references seem to refer to brushing it on...

They claim on the web site it is sprayable.

O-k, so it seems people have good stuff to say about all of these - lets talk value...

How much do these products cost?

Cheapest place to get them?

Any add'l steps required that cost more (like POR requiring a top coat of something else)?

Any ideas on value?

Need further light & knowledge as to which one. Leaning towards the Rust Encapsulator, but am wondering if anyone has any long term results w/ it?

I payed $14.00 /qt and & $7.00/rattle can for zerorust plus shipping. To spray in an Hvlp this stuff should be thinned about 20% or more. I used a hudson sprayer to coat the metal with the zerorust prepstep/TSP solution. There is a good page on application of zerorust and the prep here:
