Getting back on this project. Got some paint on the doors, did some more cutting on the rear quarter, started welding in some new material

Having some fun with the welder! Had to slow down the feed, before it was making a mess.

Well, here it is after today's work. I will probably have to take the rear bumper off to finish it up properly. There is still a section that needs to be cut out behind the bumper. I will do it tomorrow.

You forgot to paint your drivers key hole black!
I know.....I know.........:flipoff2:.....right?
Looks good man!

Actually, my drivers door handle is a black plastic one from a taco...the original was broken when I bought it. :flipoff2:

Yeah, I did the grill last year, I should follow through and do everything else and make it look good. Perhaps one of these days, I'll take everything off and paint it up.

Holy sh@% my face hurts this morning from welding yesterday. Must be some serious UV rays...

Guess I need the full face shield rather than the goggles...once again learning the hard way.

Time to go out and take the bumper off.

LOL!!!!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

I did that too......I think we all have had a burned face or some other part. I once tacked a bunch of stuff for about an hour with just closing my eyes ...no shield...I was sooooooo burned.

Do you have coon eyes????

Well here is the final result of welding up the quarter panel. I could have done a better job getting the angles right, but I will get it looking better after some bondo.

I'm using 16 gauge and it's real solid now. My welds were getting nicer as the day went on, but it still looks like a beginner did it. :D

Hey.....nothin like a grinder and little bondo to help it look pretty. As long as your solid!.

By looking at the beads, maybe a bit hotter and SLOW down a bit....let the puddle build up then move. i think you may be moving to fast. control the puddle let it fill then move.

Way to save the cruiser............thats why we are here.
Great job.

Sweet, I'll give it a try.

It seemed like the feed is a little jerky sometimes which causes it to splatter. It'll be going along nice and smoothly then stop, then shoot out, then stop, then shoot out.

I did play around with the current level and I was burning through with it higher. I just need some more time with it...next up is the rockers!

Hey Man...no progress this weekend unfortunately. I did however make provisions for possible M416...bolted to the cross member with 1/4 plate welded in for stability. Got my riding gear on now...going out on the bike in 30 min or so.

How we doing here?????
any new progress......on the cruiser not the bicycle. I need a hitch like that for my new off road utility trailer.. Where did you pick that up, and how much $.?
Hope all is well.

Yo Alaska,

I did make some progress this weekend. Finished up the bondo rear quarter and then had to get back out on the bike before the bad weather comes!!

I'll post some pics of the final results.

Next up is the rocker panels.

I actually got the one from Tractor Supply...I chose this over harbor freight because of the finish and higher rating. It was like $60.

I decided to not get the M416 as the condition was not really that great and we really don't have a good place to store it here. Maybe I'll find one over the holiday break that I can pick up.

Whats the word on those rockers ?

Looking to do mine soon..but no welder. :(

Yeah, I haven't moved on the rockers yet....don't worry, someday I will get on it!!
