don't thank us yet... you might not like it.

let the sun bake you, the mosquitos drain you, and the river drown you.
Let me mess up your shirt order, let James mess up your registration and let Ross burn your dinner.
Let 2 idiots screw your departure out Cadillac and let our fly ins miss their flights.

Then you can thank us! :)

That a boy! If you do all that you will meet my expectations perfectly! :flipoff2:

I noted Cadillac hill for a reason... I want to remind and encourage everyone to support the Sunday Exit Strategy. Some folks are still under the belief they need to leave Saturday evening or very early Sunday to beat the traffic and congestion up and out Cadillac Hill. Unfortunately, they themselves often end up being the cause of the very thing they wanted to avoid.

For those folks new to the trail, Cadillac Hill is the section of trail climbing out of the springs, and is very narrow and steep in some sections. There is one very difficult turn and then two short steep climbs with some good exposure. This is really the only difficult section yet any breakage here can tie up the entire trail until repairs or truck relocation are made.

The Exit Strategy begins by spreading the vehicle load over 4 to 5 hours. Our Fly Ins (and thus, Need to Fly Out) will be first up the hill with committee. Mudrak and his committee will position themselves at this turn and the following two steep sections. Then every 15 minutes or half hour, another group of trucks leaves the springs for C Hill. Radio contact keeps everyone informed in Hill status, after all, if there is breakage, you might as well hang out in the springs until traffic is flowing again. This approach has worked well and everyone has safely exited the springs up Cadillac Hill by noon.

You will be asked to choose a Sunday Departure time when you register in the Springs. If you are not asked, ask for it.

A huge roung of applause for Mudrak and his (2007) Cadillac Hill committee Bill Stayner, Pat Kennedy, Mike and Dale Knorr! Volunteers are always accepted.

Pighead (2)

Yeah, not quite what I was talking about ;)

Currently, we have ~350 for breakfast, so we are going to try "shifts" for breakfast to try to stagger the food. The goal is for everyone to be fed, and the lines to be reasonable in length.

Dinner will be fine, but remember, when it says "bring utensils" that means both fork AND knife.

This should be a great year.

Tony is spot on about this. Its has worked well for the last couple of years. And thanks to Mudrack for rolling the rocks and spotting.

See everybody in a few days.

The beauty of the "Exit Strategy" is that:

1 - No one has to get out, which keeps the line moving

2 - The same guys spot the same area, so they know what line is working, and what isn't, and can adapt if conditions change

3 - the "3 tries" rule keeps breakage to a minimum.

4 - positioning the winch rigs where they are speeds up occasions when a tug is needed.

Starting to feel the anticipation of another year ;)

One smile from Cindy fixes all this.

So Todd...what's the word? We'd like to interview you during this trip, take some pics of you wheeling, you and the other TLCA brass that are attending; but I can't if I don't hear from ya! Email me or PM me so we can coordinate.

Thanks,

Dave

Gee Dave, If Todd doesn't call you you can drop by the Rising Sun Camp and interview daughterofromer. She has already been in your magazine once. Look for the 11 trucks from Colorado.:D

Done! We will find your group and anyway, don't I owe you a drink or three?! can't wait Ken!

Did I miss an email from you? If so, I apologize.

Flying in Wednesday, hitting the trail with the Metal-tech crew on Thursday morning, up Cadillac and down the mountain to flights out on Sunday. I'll be around.
