That's gotta be just a winter thing. I just go from Tahoma south towards South Lake Tahoe and then onto the 50. Come Spring it should pop back open no problem. That section right there would be downright scary in the snow to drive

Cool, so it'll be big fun in a 40 on 35" MTs....

In the summer after being in Rubicon for a week, it's really a sureal drive. You'll see what I mean when you get out and drive along the ridge at Emerald Bay and drive towards the lake. It's a nice finish to a great trip

This kind of information is invaluable. A huge shout out to @AgentOrange. I hope you like single malt Scotch.
Only because my first time out there I did a metric sh** load of research about all of this and asked a thousand and one questions as @Firemedic831 can attest to. I'm pretty sure I was driving him nuts

I am very likely to be spotted with Balvenie or Glen Morangie in the evening

Sorry i missed this. i have been really busy. but it looks like Agent Orange has you sorted . I would park at the Tahoma staging area and drive around to loon , That way when you come out you can load and head over to Fordyce . Loon is about 40 miles in off of hwy 50 so you will want to top off your fuel before heading up .

Let me know if this plan sounds viable.

It looks like we will be landing at Tahoma side staging on the morning of the Tuesday 24th after spending the night of the 23rd in/near Truckee (We'll resupply food etc there also I think). We'll be dropping my 40 off the trailer, swapping on Jon's swampers and packing up for the trail. We'll probably leave for Loon around lunch. Any great places to stop for lunch on the trip down 89 & 50 to Loon?
We'll then gas up just before heading up Ice House Road I guess.

I can say my favorite lunch spot is a few minutes off your route. The Cold Water Brewery and Grill. Your trail lead Ray and I have had lunch there after Rubithon on a few occasions. Dog friendly if you sit outside as well so it’s been a hit for me. They’re just in South Lake Tahoe.
Definitely fuel up before head on up Ice House Road. There’s a gas station almost equally as far away from it in both directions on 50.
Resupplying in Truckee is for sure a great idea. Sounds like you have your trip planned out pretty well. You’re gonna have a blast!

Boomtown is not to far before Truckee and is a good place to stay . It is also a Casino and the rooms are pretty reasonable . There is a Cabelas there also . Truckee is a cool town as well

We are trying to minimize our last drive into Tahoma staging so we can get to Loon later that day as early as possible.

Suger Pine Point Campground is in Tahoma and they have showers . That is a great option as well

We are hoping to do Fordyce after the Rubicon so depending on the start plan maybe we spend Sunday night the 29th there.... A good shower will be called for I'm sure.

Meal tickets are for only one night's dinner... What night?
All other meals are our responsibility, right?
That dinner is Saturday night with the raffle following after. Other meals you handle, however once at Rubicon Springs, there will be some food to purchase. Beginning what day, I’m not sure. Pizza will be one of the items available though I do know that

1st timer... with a lot of questions. Who or where do ask? I don't want to eat up this thread if it's the wrong place to ask. Thanks for the help.
