I may not equip them, but DAMN IT at least one pair of chains are gonna be in my rig.

yup, make it heavier, ya'll are thinkin to much.

I am going to attend, I'd like to me up with you PMC guys as I'd like to join the club prior to the event.

Is PMC ging to do a club run at the Rubithon ?

you should come out to Fun Day this weekend, hang out, join the club, etc. PM me for the address.

I have been on the fence about taking David and Karina but will not be able to leave the Bay area until about 9am on Friday which would limit us to coming down Cadillac Hill (Easy in?) (solo renegade run?). It all depends on the weather since the 80 is still only on 33's. Is the amount of snow still on the ground merely "normal"? I remember the Rubithon being postponed a few years back due to snow. These photos on pirate sure make it look like there is a bunch more snow than the last few years .

I would caution you Doug on a Friday solo. The snow issue will only be above Cadillac Hill and that would be the first thing you hit, possibly stopping you or causing you to turn around.

Just be prepared (to get out, or to have to turn around and bail).

Our Sunday exit strategy will have folks exiting in groups to ensure help is availalbe and everyone gets out.

Andy Pollock posted a link to a cool video in the TLCA Events/Rubithon forum that they made of their entry in 2005. I believe it conveys what we can expect at a Minimum!

I also want to remind all my PMC friends to submit their registrations by 5/31 so we can ensure we have what you want (meals, shirts, etc).

Doug, it may be a better plan to haul ass up there Friday morning and seee if you can join Marlins crew, they usually head in from Loon on Friday.

It all depends on how quickly I am able to retrieve the children from the ex. If all went well we would be leaving Pacifica at 9:00am. Probably best to just blow Rubithon off again.

I dunno Doug, it is all about expectations. If you envision a long camping vacation and try to fit that into a too small window it will defenitley go south and prolly be a bummer. But, if you set your sights on a quick trip to stay for 2 nights and then home with no problems and a super trip then your expectations are in line with your window and it will be fun. Make no mistakes it is a long haul and a packed schedule but it is doable. I feel your pain as I have to accomodate my 9 year old daughters needs and try to wheel and get some trail time when all she wants is camp and the river.
Do whats best, you know one of our modo's is Family 1st. Hope to see you there.

OK all geared up, I did not want to make them so I ordered a new set of 4 chains that will fit my 35x13.5-15 's right out of the box, well I hope they come in a box, or at least a heavy bag. Only $125.00 plus shipping for a set of 4, screaming deal. I figure at minimum I can at least get to loon and see it frozen over.

rubithon updated posted in Rubithon thread.

Yes, we are having an event. We are having nothing else.
No meals, no frills, just a raffle and two days to exit back to Loon.

Refunds available for those who opt out.

So whats the deal then we can make it to the springs but the high lands from tahoe side are going to be impassable for the mog crew??

Phil and Jeff went in last weekend, it took 14 hours to get to the turn for Barker Pass. The Drifts are too tall, and the tree wells too steep for the Mog. The melt is not happening fast enough, and it's getting too cold at night. So, yeah, it's not a sure thing for June 16th travel by the Mog to get down to the springs loaded with food for 200.

Ya James... we just don't have the confidence we need to ensure they can make it.

and if the mog gets stuck, it stays there. and the helicopter is just too expensive for our small event.

Roger, got your message! Glad you can make it.
Damon, no problem, have you on the list.

Another reason we are forging ahead is to help the bucket brigade move materials. Please be sure to leave some space for a 5 gallong bucket (provided) of rocks.

Tony

Tony,
As for the fact that I have no rider this year, I might even be able to carry two buckets, we will see when I actually get there. As for the people that drive minis/wagons, and have a huge cargo area (compared to a 40), they should have to carry a minimum of twice the amount that any 40 can carry. Therefore if I carry two buckets the minis should be required to carry four buckets, at least.

Where are we dumping the rocks at anyway.

need to know

Knorr Boys will be towing a small trailer to Buck , will the rocks be dropped off before that ?? I gotta know ?

Rocks picked up near Wentworth, volunteers will be there with buckets to use, rocks to top of Walker Hill... and for those who attended the PMC run to Spider many years ago... and to where Philed rolled his cruiser and sent the ignition key flying. that deep cut. Those two areas need to be filled with rocks.
