Maybe one of the visiting clubs needs to step up at our event and be the "party" central"

one thing, your tent is FAR away from the camping areas....versus when you travel, where it's right next to the entire LSLC crew.....might wanna consider a mid-camp location for that rather than off to the side....

next time, I'll bring the U-Haul for a party spot... :flipoff2:

.

The guides, maps crowded runs will go away as soon as more of us find our way aroudn K Rocks, remember this is a really new venue and a long way from most of LSLC's members, very few DFW folks know their way around the property totally......

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Moab has been run over and over now for years and there are plenty of volenteers to lead trails, as well as gunners. I think with a little time more of you locals will be able to lead more trails.
I guess my suggestion would be more for the Kruse's.
Make more "trails" mark them,Name them, and give them rateings. 3-3.5-4-4.5.
If the trails, or routes are marked with more yellow flags, you don't need maps.
If the trails are rated then people will be able to deceide witch routes to take and it will be easier to split up into more manageble group sizes.

I had a great trip. I was with the fairly small groups on thur. and Fri. and I went out with a group of 6 or 7 on Sat. by ourselves. I have had several people ask me why I had to drive right thru Moab, and go clear the hell down to Texas, just to go wheeling. My reply--- For the great hospitality---- It just don't get any better than that.

Not to harp on the BBQ...I thought it was good, but for $20, I would have been just as happy cooking another meal.

I agree also on marking the trails...after getting lost on Cotton Bails on Saturday...had to turn around and barely made it back before dark.

I thought the band was gonna play a lot longer than they did Fri Night. I also didn't think they were gonna start before dark. Maybe just my confusion.

I didn't have any expectations about the dinner, and I was still kind of disappointed. I thought it was just me, so I am glad others have spoken.

Hell yeah I forgot the sunscreen too, but I wouldn't complain about that. I am very glad I didn't have to drag out any of the rain gear I packed!

I am not sure what to say about providing services. It seems like no matter what you provide, people will then just expect more. Even tho EVERYONE was warned about making trash a personal problem, I can see where a dumpster would go over real well. From there, I dunno. Potable water sounds good. So does ice and gas. At what point does this become too much to ask for a volunteer organization to provide. Again, I dunno. I am used to carrying my own load, but I can see where others might have different expectations.

What would I change. I thought it would have been really cool to pull up to the gate and find Kowboy sitting in that turqoise dentist office chair right at the gate!

Setup both big tops where tech inspection was this year. Get another extension cord so the keg is in the tent. Setup the stripper lights, banners, etc. LSLC guys keep their camp chairs in the tent and be there at night. If there's a big group there, more people will come hang out.

More than three groups a day. We probably need at least two intermediate groups since that's where most people seem to fall.

Make sure the CO2 for the keg is full. :D

BBQ sucked.

Bring back the ice machine.

Was gas that big of an issue? I ran all week and even drove into town a couple of times and used less than half a tank.

I also thought the band would play longer, but at least they got setup quicker than last year. And they were great as usual.

I thought having the TLCA dignitaries making breakfast was very cool.

Ditto!

One other idea, may be stupid (shocker). Hire a photographer to be out on the rocks taking photos during the day, and selling them in camp at night. LSLC takes a cut, makes a little money, and lots of people go home with a cool photo of themselves wheeling.

Food-All we can do is book a different BBQ place, as far as the Staight 8 I was not impressed by the food I ate there on Wed evening...........
Gas- I had a full tank starting and my truck was on the trail daily and used 3/4 tank......350 FI maybe the throttle jocks use more gas?
Ice machine will be back, dumpster will be there, Raffle/band will start later most bands play 2 one hour sets which is what we paid for........
All other suggestions will be taken into account, I'm sure Nolen will chime in here when he settles down.

Well hell, if you didn't like the Straight 8 you should try the Hard 8 there in Brady! :)

(It's a killer event, Butch, no worries.)

Fawk it was the Hard 8 I ate at in Brady,
Straight 8 used to be the name of the band.........
Maybe it was late but the meat was old tasting and tough.

I have to agree. We went in Saturday evening and I was honestly unimpressed with the Hard 8. I have had MUCH better. I really enjoyed the BBQ that was catered more...

But then again - opinions are like...

We ate down at Cooper's in Mason on Wednesday, thought it was better than the Hard 8. Hell, the best meal I had all weekend was Jim's chili.

Hell, get the Salt lick to do it...... Its not that far a drive. I thought the BBQ was good, but at that moment in time I was going to eat anything. Hard 8? Hard to eat...

Ditto to all other comments. Deffinetly a dumpster.

New roomate..... i woud like to put in for a new roomate. That last one I had stunk the place up...

I second that!

Marked trails would be good, a locked bathroom door for those who are paying guests in the cabins (someone left a HORRIBLE mess after the party Friday night -- dunno who had to clean that up???), accessible water, dumpsters, good supply of TP in the porta-jons for the ladies...

maybe my imagination...but, it seemed like the porta-johns weren't as clean this year as last...a bit more stinky??

Overall GREAT EVENT -- looking forward to next year already...

How did folks feel about the Friday night meal/raffle/band?

my half cent:
Party on Friday is OK, just so it starts later than 6. We showed up at 7p and I had an awful lot of catching up to do! Starting at 6 or 7 allows you to bail from work in Austin/SA/DFW/etc around 1pm and still make it.

FAQ sounds like a good idea, as does ice. Last year freezer rental was free, this year Jason said the freezer cost as much as the ice inside. Ice sounds important so we'll work something out for next year. Please help me remember to check on it early!
Tim

There's a certain little lady who would be very happy if the porta-johns were anchored to the ground for the duration of the event! :flipoff2:

You need to get your butt in gear next year so I can finally meet you and Liz! :D
