Just thought I'd asked to see if anyone had any good ideas to help me get a rounded nut loose. This is by far not my fist but it's just in a damned location.
I went to change the winny belts tonight and right away the lock nut for the a/c idler pully won't come loose. This is the nut that holds the pully in place not the tension adjuster bolt. No amount of penetrating oil/time will get it loose and now I rounded it and can't get a wrench on it. The wost part is the location and I couldn't get an adapter for the impact wrench that would get in there.
I guess I may just take a chisel to the nut and probaly replace the whole thing since the bearing in the pully is probably shot from being overtightened.

Have you tried a goood 6 point socket?

can you get the whole ideler bracket off and work on it on a bench? it should unbolt from the block.

one of those easyouts or boltouts things (see sears) or a nut splitter?
