Who you calling old, you young wipersnapper:D

Nice truck and great write up.

I was hoping you might post a pic or two showing how your sliders were mounted around the cats?
Nice work by the way:flipoff2:

Well done, Brandon. I'm 23 yrs old and I'm glad to see someone close to my age on here with a well built rig. I will say that we sure learn a lot from these old guys, huh?

And I'm only 19, who knows what the 80 will be like when i get over the hill!!!!

Loquito,

You'll notice in some of the raw pics of the sliders that they each have a very large, 27 inch span with no mounting bar. They way they are now, they really dont get close to the cat, but this should change quickly. By the end of the week or so i should have the final piece from stubbs and get it welded on.

Richard and i just decided that we would get them mounted, as the pictures show and then take the measurements for the final bar, that way it would be a little more accurate.

FWIW, I'll probably do a seperate slider thread on these when they are totally finished with more detailed pics so the mods can add it to the FAQ slider section.

Also, if concrete doesnt mind, i'm going to borrow one of this slider mounting pics as my 4th bracket will follow a very similar shape, consisting of three pieces welding together.

hey thanks.
I look forward to a slider write up, there is not much info or pics for mounting sliders on the 93/94 cruisers. How does the first mount by the cat work?

Brandon, great write-up!! Sweet rig and that is almost mod for mod what I'd like my 80 to have on it. I love this ROTW, you've been a great contributor. Thanks!!

Nice rig Brandon! You've been busy. That's a sweet rear deck you got there :D
Keep up the good work!

Ouch!!
Well, now that the truck is protected i should be doing some more difficult trails.....I'll be sure to wave if I see the 45 on any blue trails if we happen to pass them.....babahaaa sorry, had to. :D:D:D (deep down, i'd kill for the 45)

Yup. It was a tad of a challenge, though quite fun, taking a stock 28 year old vehicle (without low range) through medium blues. Those 20 year old dry-rotted tires made it interesting too. :D

Seriously man, looking good. Hope you get out a lot because the truck is now ready for it.

PS - the girls comment was more aimed at reffug ;)

No theft there man, I put it out there so my fellow cheap asses could build a deck. :D

Looks like we share some stompin' (wheelin') grounds. GWNF is my back yard. I love the rig!! In spite of your age you seem to have WAY more disposable income than I do. I'd love to touch base with you other VA guys.

Very Nicely done rig. Once you get the sliders complete, will they be an orderable (is that a word?) part from the guy that's making them?

450,

Richard eventual intention is to be able to offer sliders for 80. Keep in mind mine are the very first he has ever done, and my truck is a 94. To do a set for 95-97's someone would have to get him the different measurements b/c the cats.

He told me, depending on how my install went, and how theyu did on the trail, he would probably start offering them.

He's still a school boy, that's why he's got money to burn. It'll change soon when he gradiates. :)

White is a good color for a cruza...

Nicely done, I'm hopping my cruiser last as long so I can pass it along to my son. Hmm wonder if he'll want a twenty six your old 80. Either way your truck looks awesome.

Brandon - 19 - wow! Nice job and one of the best documented write-ups ROTW has seen. Truely well done young man!!! Now, go say I love you to your mom and dad! I'm sure lots of this wouldn't have happened w/o parental unit support.

White trucks rule!!!!!!!

Guys,

Thanks for the kind words. I really have a passion for these things and only hope to make some type of carrier out of it, but dont we all.

My parents are awesome for allowing me to do stuff to the truck and passing it on to me, but please dont get the wrong idea. I dont want to come across as a spoiled little kid. All the mods, i have done and paid for myself. Not looking for recognition, just dont want people to get the wrong impression.

Also, i think concrete has pretty much nailed it. Through my four years in highschool i stayed with one company and worked alot, i moved up and just saved alot over summers. My thinking is, while i can afford the mods and have little $ for backup, might as well before i get hammered with tons of real life bills....

Cruiser,
Excellent write up and well built, clean rig. It's interesting that you're the week before my ROTW, I have a similar 80 history as you'll see. I enjoyed reading your thread and nice to find out who got Junks rear bumper (i dig the camo). Thanks for sharing.

Sam
