Well I guess it is my turn. As many have said before, the week that you signed up for comes way too fast and you still have way too many unfinished projects. My Lexi is nothing really special but I love it to death and it works great. I would like to start by thanking every one on this site for all the help and advice!!! It was great to meet many of you at CM 06 and finally put some faces with screen names. I would also like to thank Woody for a wonderful site (stay away from my wife she might kill you) and for Romer for keeping the 80s tech in line ;)

My first Cruise was a nice mustard '77 FJ-40 that I wish I still had. I kept it for 5 years until it needed a new engine and I needed a commuter car and it was passed on. I then had my eyes opened while on a trip to Moab to Mt bike and saw a build 80 wheeling golden spike and I knew at some point I had to have one. I started filling my dad's ear with how great 80's were and after a year or so of looking he found a locked 97 and we started building that. You will see some pics of that rig below. Then after dental school I had the income to finally pick up my own and after 6 mo or so of looking I found a nice locked '96 lexi with 62k and full service records. So I started building my (our) own 80. I have to say that this truck keeps suprising me and the list of mods never seems to get shorter. I will include a list of mods with pics and if anyone has questions fire away.

Nice truck. Are you using the Slee Control arms with the 6" lift?

Thanks:cheers:

Yes I have the arms....even with them I only have 2deg of caster so I wish they had a little more correction for my truck but I am sure some are on the other end of the spectrum also, to get it perfect I guess you have to make your own arms like ToolsRUs

Some mod pics I forgot to add...Also I will take a few of the subs, amps and rear box system that will some day hold drawers. Those pics should be up tomarrow.

Really interested in your sub in the tailgate. Also, are those kickpanel speaker mounts custom or what.

Really sweet truck I personally like the techy-gadgets!

Rob,
Man what a sweet ride and really nice buildup!

I love the pic of the dog in the back window

I will get some pics of the subs and amps tonight once I get home. Yes, the kickpanels are custom to fit 6.5" speakers for the 3way JL's in the front. The 4" mids fit in the factory locations very well and then the tweets are in upper door.

In the tail gate I have two JL 10w3v3 subs...pics coming

I love the pic of the dog in the back window
I like the matching dog.
By the way I would have a matching dog for your cruiser too...my other dog is a really white yellow lab.

Thanks! That is Makalu a 100lb black lab who is a great trail dog. I think that that pic would be a great pic for one of the revolving front page pics for IH8mud...what do you think Woody????

Rob,

Your rig looks spic-and-span clean outside!

And your list of mods is impressive as well.

I, too, would be curious to see the tailgate sub.

Mot

sweet pooch!
I'm jealous of the boy too!

great looking rig, what's the next step?

WHAT! No winch??!?

Nice mix of wheeling, tech, and bling!

Is Slee making a dog/cargo barrier? That would be cool.

Thanks Mot!! The inside is still a little moab dusty... have been too busy to clean since home.

Pics coming

I have updated the first post with future mods now...sorry I forgot that section last night.

It's in the plans!!

thanks

It has been rumored...

Awesome truck. Did you regear for the 35's?

Yes, (has been updated to the first post) I wanted to get it done before moab but ran out of time. This has been a slippery slop for me. I wanted to regear, so while I'm at it might as well do axle rebuilds. Then might as well change out to Chromo everywhere because I'm in there and have bigger tires, and then I might as well change the rotors and pads........ So thousands of dollars later I will have new gears. So right now I have Chromo front axles sitting around and rear axles that are now going back to poly performance because of fitment issues, and I still have parts to buy.

Here are a few photos that were requested and that I forgot.

This is a picture of the location of the rear camara, very stealth

47b6db03b3127cce8923bbce153400000016108BZsmrlm4bq

this is the custom mount for the rear JL components

47b6db03b3127cce8923b952949900000016108BZsmrlm4bq

The Amps are located in the passenger side rear panel and consist of a JL 500/1 and 300/4, as you can see it's a bit tight.

47b6db03b3127cce8923b89755f400000016108BZsmrlm4bq

Here are a couple of pics of the rear subs. They are 2 JL 10w3v3 subs in the tailgate being fed by the 500/1 amp. I like the setup, and could think of were I would put them else were but it does make the talegate heavy, and the height the setup makes making a drawer system a little harder. But they sound GREAT!! and are very much out of the way. To make this possible 1.25" was added to the depth of the tailgate. Also in these pics you can see the start of a drawer system that I threw together in an afternoon before we headed to moab. In the current for it worked great for the trip but needs to get finished. Also because the sides havent been made in slid backwards on Hummer hill and dented the sub grills.

Showing added depth

That sub enclosure is a freakin' brilliant and stealth solution. I went with a single 10" JL Audio 10w6 in the OEM sub location but gutted the storage bin AND had to add 1.25 inches of depth. I'm a bit dissapointed with the funcionality of my setup because I cant fold the pass side 3rd row seat up because the sub sticks out. I might steal your idea if I redo my mine!

Cheers
