Rolled my 60. Very sad. No injuries but lots of damage. A few questions.....

As some know I do tree work with my cruisers....Well I flopped my '85FJ60 with the 5.3 liter Vortec motor the other day. I had a log on the logging road/trail where I was working and that made the road a wee bit narrow...I had carefully driven by the log once without excitement....The second pass later in the day was much more exciting....The shoulder gave out and over the bank we went.

Its a lot steeper than it looks but right now I hope to put it on its wheels and winch it out....Once I get it on its wheels I plan to pull the spark plugs and fuse for the electric fuel pump....then spin the motor a few times and then put the plugs/fuse back in and start it up.....This location (a customers private property) is 4WD accessible and I'll return tomorrow to scope it out some more and plan a recovery operation....I might replace the fuel filter and grease the drive shafts 'cause they're pretty easily accessible in this orientation :hillbilly:

Cursory review of damage roof crushed, right side mashed, windshield popped liftgass glass toast:crybaby:

Sorry to see this Rob!

Same thing happened to me in Louisiana in my welding truck years ago (2006 Dodge diesel dually). SUCKS!

Check everything you can see. Make sure all lines under the frame rails are good/intact and didn't get pinched/damaged by anything (brake/fuel lines) Bring fluids to top off everything as I'm sure some have leaked out, below proper levels.

What you have planned sounds like a good start (no pun).

Oh wow.

First and foremost very happy everyone is ok.

If I was still in living in VT (moved last year), I would be on the way down to help you out.

Stay safe winching that out.

Wow, sorry to hear/see. Once something like this starts...there's just nothing you can do to stop it. Overall it looks like you were very lucky...glad that tree was there to keep your flop from becoming a roll.

John

Glad that you are ok, trucks can be replaced, human life cannot. Looks like you have a pretty good plan of hitting things up so heres to hoping all works out well..

Definitely check the tranny/transfer fluids before going far. Depending on the shift boot condition, the 90w will get out at the shift tower.
Sorry about the bad luck.

My truck still smells like 90w 6 years after i flopped mine. Then again, I can barely wash myself let alone my truck.

Sad to see this but glad no one was harmed! I really admired your rig and hope you get it back in working order again. Maybe body swap?

Dang, sorry to see this. Good luck with the recovery. Do you plan to fix or part out?

Very bummed for you though.

 or maybe

What, did you get in there? :wrench:?

Sorry for this, if that is my 60 I would cry more than I already do, good luck recovering it.
I have no idea what to do, it looks very steep incline, maybe two winches and then still wheels above ground and cables tight.

sorry to hear and see that.

I'd just cut the downhill tree......

(or hire someone, maybe an excavator)

"I'd just cut the downhill tree......"

...and run?

Are there decently sized trees uphill out of the pictures?
We righted a tractor (!!!) once that way...

Bummer, good luck on the flip and start up

Were you sleep driving? I don't think I could flip a pan cake in that spot. Hows that roof?

LOL! Not sleep driving...Everything's easy sitting at your keyboard....~45 minutes 2 trucks with winches, truck is rubber side down and resting back near civilization. Tomorrow or Tuesday I'll go sort out the fluids and drive it home.
