In case anyone is in the market for a swing away bike rack, I can very much recommend the Rocky Mounts After Party (well except for the price). No issues the the hatch or tailgate clearance. Can even lower the tailgate without swinging out the bike rack if there's no bike on it.

The 1Up uses a similar bar system to hold the bike upright, and when wobbled seems to allow the frame of the bike to move around a bit. At least as compared to a Thule or Kaon. Doesn’t quite seem like it’ll fall out, but less stable than the above that retains the bike on the front wheel closer to the head tube.
How well does yours retain the bike? And looks like a 29er correct?

That looks very nice! I’m assuming that it’s anodized like the black 1up rack. I have a silver 1up and my buddy has a black 1up. The black will show the effects of discoloration from winter road salt more, so be careful to keep it clean if you use it throughout the winter! Keep us posted with updates as you get some time with it.

I have been behind people with the 1up rack and they def seem to move around a good amount. Shake test by hand and the few short trips I have done with it so far I haven't noticed any real wobbling or shaking. It moves around a little bit but nothing excessive. In a couple weeks we will be taking a trip and will have my wife's ~50lb ebike on there as well so that will probably give a better idea if there is much movement of the bikes.

Ditto on the 1UP. Best Rack I have used. My 4 bike rack has carried 4 bikes across the country and back twice, as well as many local trips. There's a reason they are so popular, yet have no dealers and no advertising.
The after party does look nice with the integrated swing away, but it looks like it maxes out at 2 bikes. It does look to play better with the tailgate than a lot of the add on swing aways do. Thanks for sharing!
You know your doing something right when so many people straight up rip off your designs. 1up user for roughly 10 years, and it is on my vehicle year round in WI. Absolutely no issues with bikes moving excessively. 1up is in Wisconsin and well. Give them your money, not the dicks who rip them off.
Yeah, I'm assuming 1Up's patent expired for the design with there being a few other makers using the design/concept now. I would have gone with 1Up but wanted the swing and didn't want to have to use adapters to get it.

Hey I didn't even notice it was all one unit vs the 1up needing the adapter setup. Kinda cool and it makes sense honestly. I assume the 1up will tilt down so the tailgate access isn't an issue, but that means the bikes are in the way.

The original designer of the 1up rack has a newer company called QuikRStuff. Their racks are supposed to be an upgrade over the 1up, since 1up really never changed anything about the original rack. Supposedly there is some murkiness about how the original owner was pushed out of the business, but who knows.

I don’t know much about the company, but I am a fan of the Rocky mounts pickup bed fork mount system. When winter weather is sloppy, it keeps the fat bikes cleaner up in the bed vs on a rack behind the truck, or when you need to carry 3 bikes in the bed and more bikes on a hitch mount rack out back. The integrated swing away feature on your rack is very cool; especially if it doesn’t rattle.
Since we are on the topic of hitch carriers and potential mess.. has anyone found a high quality bike cover for when it's on the rack? one that won't tear up from the turbulence behind the vehicle over a long trip and such?
I'll be hauling my bike to colorado with potentially bad weather for significant chunks of that..

The goal would be to remove it easily when the weather isn't bad for improved visibility out the back.. though that is a really good, cheap option I hadn't considered. Thanks.
Ha...they weren't shilling the rack at least. And to be clear, I wasn't personally recommending that one, just saw it had a LC in the ad. It looks like it definitely comes with the LC tax, as it seems to be more expensive than a lot of the other options on Amazon, although with decent reviews.

Hey there, can you speak to how the rack mounts to the receiver? I like the easy and adjustable lever system that 1up employs to mount it's rack to the receiver. It looks like their design would be very helpful given our 200 series receiver hitch location. Thank you!

It's pretty much the same as most other hitch racks. Uses an anti-wobble bolt system and comes with a lock for the hitch pin. Had no issues using a standard 3/8 ratchet to tighten the bolt. The lock is no problem to put on but its a bit tight taking the dust cover off and unlocking it.
