Got to try out the tent in Vermont Overland Rally over the last weekend for 4 days. One night was a about 30, and with the Big Buddy heater running..... it was a great hang out. Another night it poured, and it was again well received.

Bottom line is, it's great for keeping out the cold and wet...just have to figure out a way to keep the riff-raff out...

I managed to set it up and take it down myself, and although another set of hands would've been nice, it was still doable. As far as booting to rear of the ROAM...I just took a razor blade and cut it, and applied some self stick Velcro, and it saved the day.

It was spacious and convenient. Had the picnic table set up in there..and the bar as well...

When you coming East!?!..;p

Awesome trailer! The quality of the craftsmanship is blatantly obvious. Looking forward to seeing more

updates:clap:
Thanks man...I appreciate that! Just got done wrapping up 4 days at The Cove in Gore, VA...and now I'm setting up in Gettysburg as we speak for 4 more days....it sure is fun to get out and use her instead of staring at her behind the house!!....

Where are you staying in Gettysburg?
KOA or off the beaten path?
The new tent looks awesome!

Thanks Mark!

Over at Artillery Ridge....quiet right now, just the way I like it.

I'm really digging the new tent, not so much putting up and down alone, but for four days well worth it

The set up looks great. What is your trailer weight now loaded?
I wanted a RTT for the 101A2 but I think the 116A2 is getting a Woody tear drop instead.
4 flip down bunks and a tent annex like yours.

R.O.A.M is a true inspiration!

Thanks Mark...I think I'm around #2500-2600ish....

I went through everything before taking off for Virginia, so I'm pretty sure I'm at the original weight when the RTT was on.

Cut it down from 6 containers to 4, so that helped....plus I could probably shave off another 80# and lose the two water containers either side....but really you don't know its back there unless its a steep hill.

Amazing build.

Thank you!....much appreciated...

Thought I would add some updated pictures form trout fishing in mid April 2013. We used the Camp Chef wood stove in the tent, and because of the chilly, damp weather, it was the star of the show.

The tent, albeit heavy, makes a nice weather proof area behind the trailer, and is well worth the hassle to put up and take down. It was so nasty overnight we cooked dinner and breakfast on the stove in the tent...sweet!!

Wow, absolutely fantastic build. The quality is amazing. I'd love to see what the guy from Expedition Portal says about yours.

I don't have the skills/space to complete a build like this. I just have my Kakadu trailer, but I am doing my tweaks to make it more my own.

Can't wait to see ROAM 2!

Thanks JKMike!..it's really fun to be using it, although there's always something I want to improve on. I'm actually headed out to Hickory Run SP in PA, this weekend coming up, with a buddy.

I've seen those Kakadu trailers...there awesome, you should post a thread on it!

Great build. You should be proud.

Thank you!..

Pat: You set the bar very high for us all. Wonderful build! Is there a Roam III in the works yet?

Thanks Mark!....I have to get ROAM II out the door first!

I have about 4 different designs, and can't make up my mind what I want...

I keep thinking I want less room, quicker set up....but having a bomb shelter 11' x 11' room off the back is gonna be tough to give up. I'm thinking of keeping the tent, and storing it on the nose, as opposed to inside (emptying the inside would take 2 mins if the frame and panels weren't in there)

I'm sure I'm going to start by next spring though...I'm just having too much fun with this one. The tent has really worked out...much more than I originally thought it would. The weight is still a bitch, but after setting it up 5 times by myself, I got a lot better at it. My buddy and I went to Hickory Run SP, and it really makes it big difference. He slept in there in the corner, and there was still plenty of room for a table and benches, getting dressed, etc.

Thanks for looking:beer:

This is AMAZING! Thank you for sharing. Any chance you have the sketchup of the front\slatned\cockpit looking side of it? I would like to incorporate that into my build.
