I found that spray on bed liner over primer has the best long term coating for me.

Good to hear, I was thinking about using self etching primer after surface prep, then coating with bed liner.
I had originally primed and painted it, but within a year paint chips were showing from rocks and other scrapes. The bed liner has solved all of that. I think it looks fantastic.

Cool, which brand bedliner have you used ?

I did extensive prep, then painted several roll on/brush on coats with RTG Truck Bed liner paint. The paint has some fibers in it. Have to keep stirring if you want them to be even, they float to the top over time. It is 'rated' for direct to metal application, which I did. This was a mistake.
Looked fantastic for six months
Started to get visible oranging after first winter
Lots of oranging now going into third winter. Will have to be stripped and recoated much sooner than I'd like, probably next summer.

I don't have any problems with the coating itself, it wears good and is scrape and scratch resistant. Application is easy and water cleanup super convenient. However because I took the can's advice and didn't prime with a rust inhibiting primer, a 10 year finish will only last four.

My bumper was powdercoated when I got it (bought used), so I can't tell you the cost. It's holding up very well, but it won't last forever.

I had custom bumpers on my previous truck, and considered having them powdered while I was doing a frameoff but it was just too expensive. I ended up using Monstaliner, with a primer coat of Chassis Saver. Prep is VERY important, so I had them fully sandblasted nice and clean. It's great stuff, and the vendor is here on MUD. Looks like you just missed a Black Friday sale, maybe there's some leeway there. Read about the material here:

I think if the coating on my RLC started to degrade, I would go this route again. I know that the other bumpers I did back in 2013 are still doing well, not flaking or chalking, and the truck lives in Arizona now. If you use their foam-type roller, it makes a really nice "wrinkled" finish, non-slip but not abrasive that might hold dirt.

The quotes I got around here were insanely high ($400-500) so I coated the bumper in raptor liner. It was a process to get it done, but it looks great and the finish is very scratch resistant. I saved about $200 doing it myself.

+1 for Raptor Liner. Also POR Marine Clean and Metal Prep before priming. It is incredible how different the steel feels after using this product. I stripped a Jeep bumper with PC job that failed after one year and used the POR/Raptor method. No rust in the 5 years before I sold it.

I just ordered up an RLC rear bumper from James this morning. I'm getting mine with an aluminum shell, WITHOUT tire or fuel carriers. It'll be a couple months, hopefully I can avoid bashing my bumper cover too much more until then.
I also ordered a set of Bud Built aluminum skids. Once I find an aluminum front, I'll have an all-aluminum protected LC! Except the rock sliders. Those are the Slee slider-steps. I used those to get down a ledge, and it barely scratched the powder coat.

Interesting, can you post up the shell only weight when you receive it?

To clarify, your's will have no swing out correct? I'm anxious for you to get it, I've been thinking about something similar. Congrats!
