Seriously though… did he have to do actual math on his phone calculator because the Rivian lacks a trip mileage counter thingy?
Cool truck, just not ready for my needs yet.

And comments like "fanboy" is probably why you're not getting much engagement and frankly why the internet sucks. Most folks on here own an LC, or something similar, and many of us own EVs as well... would be happy to engage with reasonable folks. Fanboy my hole.Electric cars being so quiet is a good analogy for all the fanboys right now.
In this thread and others we’ve got a significant proportion of posters advocating for the rivian as a replacement for their LC 200 and it’s the basis of the thread you just posted in.I don’t know why anyone would expect anything different for towing results. For one, it’s about what was expected, did better than I thought considering the low temps, high weight and up I-70. Secondly, electric vehicles are not for towing (at least not yet!). I tow a trailer up that same stretch of I-70 about 25 times a year, I don’t plan on doing it with an EV.
It’s all about your expectations. The Rivian is a fast luxury suv with a lot of tricks and it checks a lot of boxes to make it a great vehicle. But it’s not for towing, it’s not gonna off-road like a LC either.
That’s why I’m getting a Rivian, and I have no plans to get rid of my 200. They are completely different vehicles.
I wouldn’t be offended by the term fanboy, I read it as a friendly jab.And comments like "fanboy" is probably why you're not getting much engagement and frankly why the internet sucks. The noise it does make is also extra dumb. White noise or what they were going for i have no clue.
There was talk a few years back about making it mandatory for electric vehicles to be required to have some sort of audible noise, this was in order for blind pedestrians to be able to hear it coming. I recall it being quite a normal incident for the blind believe it or not. I am not sure if that became a legal requirement or not but this is the only reason I can come up with for the noise on the Rivian.

Fanboy or not, this doesn't change my intentions, as there's no surprise here. It is about par and what is expected honestly for the vehicle and battery size under test. This is the mid grade 135 kWh variant of the Rivian, and not the larger 180kWH variant in the pipeline. Nor the 200kWh expected of the high capacity Cybertruck which should do 250+ miles.
This would be the same range that a stock 200-series will do. Add larger tires to match what these enthusiast EVs come with stock, and a 200-series may not even match that range. I think the real surprise is for those that have never towed.
Props to the new Tundra however. The newfound efficiency is a solid improvement.
What? The rivian went 150 miles. For an LC to only go 150 miles that would be 6.25 mpg. A stock LC would be double that +.
I recently got 12 towing a heavy ass boat up to Tahoe and back (+6000ft).
but I ain’t mad because I can make the horn a fart or a whistle.
Boats usually tow pretty good as they have better aero and smaller frontal area than campers and RVs. Aero load usually has a bigger impact than weight.
