No, there is an adapter plate for the winch mount that sisters on the stock recovery location. You could put a hook on top of it if you wanted, but the bumper/winch mount location is better. It is not only using the stock point but the horns as well, and is coupled across to both sides via the mount.
The approach angle concerns isn’t very different between the two.

So random but I saw modded LC in a parking lot across from my office and thought I'd drive by and check it out. As chance would have it it actually had the Rival 4x4 bumper on it. Looks fantastic in person without being too bulky. I'm 99% sure this will be my front bumper in the future. It's gotta be a sign right? YOHB?

Well I wish I was more mechanically inclinded to do something like this for a 2013 LX because this bumper is sweet. Lots of inspiration in this thread.

@RIVAL 4x4 I can't find the post, but I thought I had seen someone here state that the headlight washers aren't actually compatible with this bumper. Can you confirm which years you tested? For reference, I'm in a 2013 LC.

Regardless, this is a great looking product, and after seeing it in person on @grinchy LX, it's on my wish list.

Do I need to buy your front skid in order to install your Rival bumper or can you just keep all OEM skids with your bumper?
Also, do I need all 3 skids including the transmission skid in order to mount or can you just mount each skid independently if needed?

No you can keep all existing skids and panels. In fact
I didn't even remove mine when installing the bumper
