Is that Treeroot or is that a nuclear blast on the horizon? Treeroot and I put his truck side by side with mine the other night and compared his light bar with my Lightforce 170 HID's and it was brighter hands down in my opinion. Also the light pattern on the LED light bar was much more consistent in color and has no dark spots like the HID's. The amount of light it puts out is over the top. It was painful to look at from 200 yards away.

Maybe I missed it but what roof rack are they attached to and how did you wire it up? Thanks!

Pricey, yes, but good value for the cost.

How durable, would one wack up top from something ruin the lights?

I would buy this if it was brighter than what I have now. If I could do the math, I might be sold on this. I like the lower clearance the LED Light Bar offers. If I could get my truck in to more places and my garage it woudl be a slam dunk purchase for me.

My IPF HID's are 165,000 candela (cd) output each x2 for a total of 330,00 cd.

My Hella 4000xi Compact HID's x4 are not rated by Hella but if I would have to guess I would say maybe 3,000 lumens? I have 4 of them on the roof rack. The Hella's are nowhere near as bright as the IPF HID Lights nor is the usable light or pattern as good as the IPF HID's.

I am having trouble converting Candela to Lumens and I have no idea what the Hella's actually put out. I am wondering if the total is in the 18,000 Lumens range for not.

Does anyone here have a degree in lighting design and engineering? Does anyone here know how to do the conversions?

True...and it it is less than 4 Hella 4000i Compact HID's ... which would run $2,400 for the set and only put out about a little more than half the light....if that. Hell does not rate their lights for some reason. I wonder why? :)

Seems like a bargin to me when you really look closely at the cost per Lumen and the lower clearance they offer on a roof rack.

My only question is how well do they stand vibration and a hard hit from a tree limb on the trail.

Anyone want to buy my Hella HID's? They are pretty much brand new...:)

Actually that is one of the big benefits of these lights. See their testing here.
Rigid Industries - LED and HID lights

Pretty much indestructible. They shot it, hit it with a baseball and the drug it behind their Jeep down the road, then drove over it and it still worked. Some of the individual's failed, but that was a small percentage. Also the boards are 4 LED's per board, so I am pretty sure even in that event it can be fixed and a single board replaced.

Here is some specs.

I'm not an actual lighting designer but I work in that field... Candela and lumen are different measurements or metrics. The best way to describe lumen is similar to an HP rating of an engine: it's the raw power 'outputed' by the engine, in this case the lamp. Any and every lamp has a lumen rating.

Candela is is the actual amount of light/brightness measured once it exits the lighting fixture/instrument.

Hope this helps ?

Why are lights so costly? Either way another thing I will add to my wants and wishes list!

Love that truck. The best looking 80 on here, now viewable from space.

Christo, I'd like to see what those 4" look like mounted in an ARB.

I am not sure the 4" is enough for a driving light up front. One of the biggest issues we have with selling these are to get people to understand they do not need two lights up front. :D I will be putting a 20" on my own truck and report on how that works.

The small ones we are going to use for camping, backup lights.

The roof rack is an AO rack. The mounting provided are two feet that attach to the sides of the light. The single attachment point allow the light to be aimed. You can see the feet in this pic. Rigid also offers a cradle that can be used instead of the feet or a tube clamp. If you wanted to mount one to a truck without a roof rack, all you would need is an attachment point on each side.

The wiring is simple, black, red, relay, switch. The kit comes with all of it so all you need is to hook black to black, and red to red.

I used a stock foglight switch instead of the lighed rocker switch provided but theirs would work just as well. In an 80 it would fit in a blank switch cover and look really clean.

A few have PMed me about the grill. Here is that link--. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/229592-fjz80-strut-grill-satoshi-grill-mod-style.html

The HIDs in the Depo lights are ProLumen 5000K 35 and 50 watt kits I picked up from BavToys --> BAVTOYS.COM - 1•866•988•9995

Man I wish I could get one of these before the Blizzard we recently had. I wonder how would a pair or (a retrofitted) bar would look on the Shortbus bumper

Understood.

So is there any practical way to determine how much a candela rating relates to a lumen rating?

In other words, what would 165,000 Candela equate to in a Lumen rating ... or vice versa. What would 18,500 Lumen equate to in a Candela rating?

That is the part I am trying to figure out.
