alright already, finally a few updates.

working on cruisers for a living has definetly slowed down my won project but i knew that was gonna be part of it. and that's ok. i do not have a date set when the cruiser is to be done so when i find some free time, i try to do a little work here and there.
over the last couple of weeks, my partner in crime, don aka fc187, and i have been doing a few things to the cruiser. don has come up with a great family cage design. i wanted to incorporate the seat tubes/mounts and some sort of storage rack, preferrably removeable. that way i can have a back seat in it or when the seat is out of it, i can carry more junk. it's designed to be tall enough to store the coolers/tool boxes underneith. that way i don't have to dig thru a bunch of stuff to make myself a sandwich on the trail. much easier axcess to food and tools and that should save a bunch of time. i think it's a concept that'll catch on.
i got the cage, the luggage rack and the bead lock rings back from the powder coaters yesterday. did'nt have much else going so i decided to put the bead locks back together. that only took 4 hours.....

next i bolted the seats in the frames temporarily. the guys at ace had mis-packaged the lock-nuts i needed so i could'nt mount them permanently. hence the cage is sitting on top of a few 2x4s in the tub right now. otherwise the seat mounting bolts would ventilate the tank for me. they're extra long right now and need to be trimmed, but not until i have the proper hardware on there. here's a pic of the cage in the rig without the luggage rack.

last week don also built a new bumper and stinger/winch mount for the rig. we decided that the bolt on bumper was'nt the way to go and wanted something sturdy, compact and functional. here's what we came up with:

if you look closely at the last pic you can see that the trans cooler line will hit the headlight bucket. so i have to take the rad and coolers back out and re-position the trans cooler. it'll end up being more centered in the open grille area which will look better, cool better and create enough clearance for the trans cooler lines. the sheet metal is only mocked on there right now with a few bolts and the hood and bib are not the ones i'll be running.

so next on the list will be to finish the cooler mounts, move the rear axle and suspension back and come up with a rear bumper design along with a spare tire carrier. 37s on beadlocks are'nt light so it's gonna have to be pretty strudy. pretty sure i'm gonna use one of luke's (4x4labs) spindles for the task.

this week i should be able to finish the seat mounting and installing the luggage rack. i'll post some more pics when they're all done.

i'm running a 2" body lift to create room for the clocked atlas. otherwise it would hang at least two inches below the frame and i would'nt have as much clearance. i had to do some trimming on the re-enforcement ribbing on the bottom of the tub even with the body lift to get enough clearance as it is.

i'll get started on the back bumper in a week or two. gotta get some other stuff done and save up a few bucks to build the bumper.

it's definetly inspiring looking at it the way it sits cause now it's starting to look like something.

the body lift came with the rig. pretty sure it's a BTB or something along those lines. powder coated aluminum blocks and a bar across the back 4 body mounts. pretty sure i will make new ones though cause that part is very bulky and heavy (like i outta be worried about an extra pound or two at this point! )
