I don't remember dumping any knowledge about bell housing covers recently, unless ot was back in my build thread, but thank you nonetheless!
Dammit, you’re right. It was Nate. I’m a dumbass and just thumbstabbed.

Still, you’ve dropped some solid knowledge so kudos are deserved in any case.

I get a little thumb happy sometimes 🤷🏽

Next up on the chopping block is this section of the passenger side of the hardtop. There are seven tack welds here and. Think I’ll hit those to pull this piece and repair it off on its own. Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Angle iron! 😂. Kidding. That was a super tricky spot. I just cut it all out and replaced it one small piece at a time. I don’t think I worried about the radius too much. I just figured that out with the grinder.. i’ll go back and see if I can figure out what I did. One of the many areas I washed from my memory. What areas would you drill the tack welds? At least you have good beer in TX. Helps with moral.

There are 7 tack welds from the seem next to the beer then the welds at the base of the pillar I’d grind away. I feel like if I took this piece off, it’s trashed enough, I’d get a better attack angle on fixing it. It is one of the few fortunate pieces that look like it could be removed and replaced without too much drama.

Maybe right in here
That patch sucked

Ha, appreciate it.
I do a lot of staring at parts with a beer in hand trying to get the repair to tell me how to do it.

I’ve definitely learned that often what seems like the hard way is really the quicker and correct way.

These little bits are so satisfying to fix and I truly enjoy the work. Not looking forward to the floor pans though.

The current goal is to get the hardtop repairs done, get it back on and go on a winter (for here) road trip around the new year. I’ve got a fairly cheesed rain gutter I’m trying to decide if I repair or replace (ccot). Wish I could find some donor bits for it, that would be the best option.

Also have this hole on the tub I need to repair before the top goes back on.

This is really the only other major body cancer.
Even the sill is fine. Strange ways and places this girl rusted but I’ll take it.

And beer? It is the great motivator.

Always the best show on Channel 1.

Just received my first of two sets of the crazy inexpensive H4 headlight kits. First impression is that I am floored at the quality and quantity for less than $20. However, upon further inspection it appears I received a pair of right side lights (I’m guessing, the part number is 6R11, @OGBeno, you’d know).

I ordered two sets, because why not? Once I get the right/left sorted I’ll be stoked to have brighter lights and changeable bulbs.

Part number for the kit is: 81110-60P70 if you don’t know.

Talked to the parts department at the dealer I got the lights from and he’s saying they should be the same. I guess they both lean their light in the same direction?

IIRC yes they lean toward the outside of the road. At least they did back when the dinosaurs roamed the planet.

Yeah, I went back and reread some threads and that seems to be the case. I think I was thinking about the buckets being side specific… or just not thinking at all.

yeah i noticed that too. i think they’re designed that way to illuminate the right ditch a little higher for signs etc but keeps the left hand a little lower for oncoming traffic. great lights for the price though!!

i love your philosophy of not being down for more than a week! i’m working on that kind of repair schedule myself. otherwise i never get to drive it!!

Found a few posts that explain the light angle like you said. Came to light, as it were, when someone was talking about the difference between RHD and LHD vehicles. Makes sense but it’s hard to care about not blinding people when every other vehicle around here appears to running nuclear fusion to illuminate their headlights.

The slope is very steep and slippery, might as well be standing on a hot tin roof covered in snot.
Plus, I know myself, if I got even a little too far in I’d be at the bottom of that rabbit hole so fast… just me, a pile of 40 bits and drops of warm snot dripping down from above on the whole affair.

As it stands now, I can drive it while knocking out hardtop repairs. Looking for a block of a few days to do the knuckles, clean up the front springs and throw some 4* shims in for caster correction.
I’ve got all the parts but I need a block of good weather as my horse/40 stall isn’t wide enough to pull the long side. Plus holidays, family, friends blah…

Well, after a couple years of stealth (illegal… shhh) driving, Norman is finally legal.

The woman I got her from started ghosting me last spring when I really started asking for the title. It was a complicated mess on her side but whatever. She disappeared so I took matters into my own hands and got a bonded title.

There are two routes to do this here in Texas…
1) cheap but complicated.
2) not cheap but super quick and easy.

Well, I treated myself for Christmas and went with #2 mostly because step one of number 1 was becoming a sh!tshow and didn’t seem like it would happen in ‘23.

Not the worst plate number.

Haven’t done any body work with all the last minute work and now family/holiday junk. Did put the Kioto headlight kit in and I am still amazed at the value for such an improvement in lighting. The whole set cost almost half of what one sylvania bulb cost. Cray cray.
