Great to hear about the shim results!

I got 4 degree to, then though ‘f$ck, is that too much castor?” Now I can calm my rump down.

It’s a game changer.
Certainly falls into the category of “I should have done this sooner… a lot sooner”

My only recommendation is to put your suspension in full droop and make sure your frt driveshaft yokes don't bind. You may have to clearance them slightly.

Dang man that’s impressive.
Thanks E.
It’s such a detailed profile that I really wanted to avoid welding/grinding all the angles.
I’ll have to plan my weld to avoid inside corners and such.

Progress on this tricky lil bit(ch)…
The shape of this piece made it really hard to clamp not only the pieces together but also the whole shebang to anything. It’s walk away time before I screw anything up.

Also, slightly punched through with the spot weld removal bit… 😬.

Off to enjoy a couple few of these. Even though I would never profess to ba a Native Texan, these are pretty good.

No offense to Native Texans btw.
When I moved here over 25 years ago, Texas taught me to be proud of where I am from. It was a good lesson.

I have put a hole clear through with the spot weld cutter before. As someone once said to me, it’s only steel you can fix it. Nice job on that hard top repair!

Yeah, I’ll bang it back before I spot weld the backside and see where I’m at. It’s just a bummer on one of the few clean surfaces I’ve got on this girl.

Thanks for the kudos. It was tricky with the tools I (don’t) have but it is certainly better than it was.

Let’s talk again when I fit it up…

You are a pro…I won’t be recommending angle iron anymore! Nice work! That’s super tricky.
Thanks Eric. It was tricky but I learned a few things and made a couple tools to aid the process.

Now to slosh some Ospho around that cavity before I close it up.

Ian, Q of ignorance (and too lazy to search), what is Ospho?
It’s a rust converter.
It comes in a bottle and is very liquidy so it can get to tight places.
It turns rust into a powdery layer that you’re supposed to brush off before painting.
There is no real color to it though it seems to turn some rust blackish.

I get it in the paint aisle at McCoy’s Lumber

Well, popped my hood to do the timing and heard my battery hissing 😳.

13.7 off
17 and climbing while running!!!

And here I was just fixing to do my knuckles.
I’m assuming it’s the voltage regulator but the alternator looks pretty darn crusty too. Imma go through the wires/connections etc…

Any other thoughts before I dive down this bunny portal?

My vote: get yourself a new voltage regulator. They are cheap and easy.

I have seen a few posts on adjusting the voltage regulator, it looks pretty straightforward. Give it a quick try and if it doesn’t work you can get a new one.

I’m messing with the wires now, just cleaning up the VR internals, it’s actually pretty nice in there.
Calling the dealer for a new VR (27700-24070) in about a minute. Seeing around $30 for oem?

Thanks guys.

NVM…
Dealer says NLA.
Shouting out to @ToyotaMatt
Hopefully he’s holding.

Helpful for sure.
I tried adjusting but this pic is from that thread:
