Maybe in Lou Cuss Electrics, why they don't work in the rain!

That is awesome!I finally figured out the where, what and why of the noise.
It was indeed the throwout bearing jingling against the clutch fingers.
I know this because I discovered that the top retention clip fr the TOB to fork was askew and the bearing was riding crooked on the input shaft not allowing the bearing to go to its resting position.
I had checked that before but then I messed with the bottom one and I guess it wasn’t all the way seated and popped out. It was still there just not doing its job.
Sound gone…
Really glad it was something stupid and simple.
In the few instances we get really cold spells, I shove a 100 watt light bulb in the engine bay overnight and that helps noticeably.Living with mine in very cold conditions when the procedure was followed that is laid out in the manual and you used it usually always started. But the very thick oil in the drive train was another matter you had to feather the clutch and throttle to get it to idle because the oil would kill the engine. I would put the transfer case in neutral and put the transmission in to gear and by the time I was ready to leave for work the oil had warmed up but did not help the differentials or the grease in the knuckles.
I ran 10w-40 in mine. I had a magnetic heater that would stick to the oil pan that worked very well don't know what the wattage was.In the few instances we get really cold spells, I shove a 100 watt light bulb in the engine bay overnight and that helps noticeably.
I rock 20w-50 year round so it'll struggle with the oil in the lower 30's and below.
Interestingly, the 3FE in Paul the FJ62 seems to have a harder time with the oil/cold?
I think the starter may have been the issue honestly. It went out recently and I feel like it was borderline too small anyway? It was an auto parts store special. Have a Denso reman in there now, mucho fuerte!I ran 10w-40 in mine. I had a magnetic heater that would stick to the oil pan that worked very well don't know what the wattage was.
Maybe the fuel injection was not as good with cold starts as the carburetor was .
I missed a days work when it was -24 replacing my starter and a photographer took my pictures and published in the Rock Springs Rocker Miner. I replaced mine with a Toyota in kind, did not know about the Denso starters at the time.I think the starter may have been the issue honestly. Helluva deal!I've been driving Norman pretty much 100% unless it is raining or multiple kids (need to put the bench seat back in). It has a couple tiny leaks in the radiator which while fixable, I was quoted "around" $200 for it to "probably" fix it. Serra is having one of their 25% off plus free shipping sales through tomorrow. Got a handful parts for my wife's highlander, a radiator and a few random parts for Norman for $604.24 to my door.
Radiator worked out to be $225, no tax, free ship. OEM. hopefully it arrives mostly undamaged.
