New to this .. I am restoring a 78 fj-40. I am currently on the engine and engine bay. every part of it will be redone. I am having a hard time finding a site that will tell me the correct colors for things like the engine block, silly things like the water pump , bolts etc. brake lines .. all of it. Does anyone know of a place I can go to ??? please help :hhmm::hhmm

I don't think there's a reference for that. Ask away. I bought my '78 new and I've changed very little of it. It shows it's age, but it's pretty much stock.

The engine block is black. Aluminum parts/accessories (valve cover, alternator, fuel pump, intake manifold, carb, 1/2 of air pump) were bare, except for a clear protective coating that eventually yellows and cracks. Various mechanical/hardware stuff like accelerator linkage, hood rod, hood latch, heater pipe over push rod cover, and bolts are cad plated. I assume the brake lines are zinc plated.

This isn't a great photo of anything, but I just happened to have it handy. That's an electronic regulator on the firewall, not the stock regulator. :D Oh, and the prestone flush fitting is not stock. :D
