Restored fj40 insurance

One of the reasons I keep each and every receipt for work done and parts purchased is if I have to prove something there is sufficient written proof.

I'm not doing work on my non-stop restored cruiser. It's increased in value because of the market not what I'm continuing to put.it to it. I want insurance for that. Pretty well known you buy a cruiser it's a crap shoot if you will make a profit. I'm sure if there is a policy that would cover every penny you put into it some would burn the cruiser to keep from taking loss when market value is less than what you invested. If you don't have a declared value policy believe you need to prove it's market value not what you invested.

Another vote for State Farm.
I have several of my Cruisers covered by them. I told my local agent how much I thought they were worth, he did some research, came and took pictures and I am covered for the amount I said they were worth. Pretty fair price per year as well.

I had my 45 appraised and then took the truck to my State Farm agents office. They took pictures of the vehicle, copied my appraisal and filled out one form. This is the second "stated value" policy I have with them. Done and done!

Be sure to read your policy. I run an insurance underwriting department and stated value is not the same as "agreed value". I'm not knocking your agent either but I have met more than my share that promise every day people things are covered when they are not.

Please read your policies. And make sure you get things in writing.

I have a Hagerty agreed value policy.

Depends on how you plan to drive it but check out J.C. Taylor.
My 12 month premium for covering 2 antique cars was $166 this year.
They don't check the mileage but I'm probably only putting on 2,000 per year.

i have all my trucks with state farm when i tried to do the the fj40 some desk jockey said an antique vehicle does not have a winch .factory pto on it .but my power wagon and 6x6 both have winches .still fighting with them

Do you have a agreed value policy? If so how much?

My JC Taylor policy for $16K stated value is $180/year. 2500 mile limit, and no offroad use.

I used Hagarty and renewal just arrived for $435. Declared value of $16k. Just dropped by JC Taylor for a quote and they quoted me $140/yr for $20k declared value.

I'm with Haggerty on a '77 at $370 annual using historic plates. May sound corny but happen to live in the same town where they're located and like to support local businesses if they're in the ballpark on price.

....And I just called AAA in Colorado (all my other junk is insured with them), and they resell SafeCo insurance, and a stated value policy for $20K with a 5000 miles/year limit is $184 - so exactly the same as my JC Taylor quote.

This appears to be a true stated-value policy, but I will have to research if they allow any 'drive to work' or 'offroad' use. I was only told about the 5K/year mileage limit for this quote. I highly doubt they will allow 'offroad' use.

Last time I called Hagerty they were $350 or so - I like the company, but not the price.
