EDITED: Looks like a knock sensor 12 error.
Finally worked out the cel codes, as my diagnostic port was missing the TE1 pin.
However, as someone suggested, I tried jumping E1 to TC, and then the cruise control started flashing 1-2 .i.e. 12, ie. knock sensor error.
Hopefully just a damaged connector or faulty knock sensor.
Any advice on brands?
I usually prefer OEM but wow they are pricey...
Hi all.I recently drove 200km of mainly country highway driving.
It went fine until we were nearly at our destination, when it started loosing power and was struggling to accelerate.
If I tried to accelerate harder, the car would almost stall, and/or backfire.
I managed to make it to where we were going.
There is no check engine light.
There is no smoke at all from the exhaust.
Oil is topped up and looks clean, as is the coolant.
Oil pressure and temperature gauges appear normal.
The vehicle has previously been diagnosed and having burnt valves, due to running on LPG by the PO for most of its life, I suspect.
However, I've known about that for over six months, and am looking at either rebuilding or replacing the head when I can afford it.
Give how suddenly it lost performance, I doubt that this would be the cause though.
The next morning, I replaced the fuel filter, but it is still misbehaving.
Its idling roughly, like perhaps one cylinder is not firing.
I re-seated the cables to the coil packs.
The plugs were changed over 12 months ago with OEM ones.
I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU back to default, without any noticeable change.
Its dual fuel, but only currently working on petrol - it has a tendency to backfire badly on LPG.
I tried to flick it over to LPG to test it and it runs equally roughly.
So, my guess is it looks like something electrical, coil, leads, etc, or else some sensor?
I have replaced both the MAP and TPS sensors, and the crank angle sensor, about a year ago as well.
I have not replaced the knock sensors.
I managed to nurse it back the 200kms to home, often dropping back to a crawl on some of the hills - about walking pace.
However once on the flat, it would very gradually accelerate up to speed, so I could eventually do the speed limit, until the next hill.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
