Reproduction mudflaps on ebay

I recently had my truck redone and the mud flaps were a sticking point for me. By design the metal backing on the stock flaps hugs the wheel well, and slowly degrades in the elements and will eventually rub

the options were either these eBay units for 400, restoring the old flaps that didn’t really protect anything for about the same or more, or try aftermarket alternatives

After some finesse the body shop used the brackets for the stock flaps and new stainless hardware to mount these in the factory spots.
The flaps themselves were 100.00 - they won’t rust and they’re semi ridged so they don’t “hang” or “flop”

one could argue the labor to install these correctly and cleanly was beyond 400.00 - which is true - but long term id rather have something that works vs OEM and “kinda works”

the picture angle is weird but the front and rear are lined up and offer plenty of ground clearance w/ plenty of room in the wheel well itself

I dunno. I like the look with mud flaps but they're a good trap for wet sh!t behind and that the reason there's always rust spots in those areas.

I do like those @EasternYeti - maybe a bit more info on what was used incase someone wants to try and duplicate?

Also, is that a stock gasket on your Side View Mirror ?

The way the stock flaps trap moister was my main point of contention as well

These are RokBloks Universal Truck Mudflaps in the large size (they offer three sizes but the large is closest to stock while being slightly larger). I took the mounting hardware brackets off my old flaps (heresy I know) and reused stock mounting locations with stainless hardware. Due to limits on stainless bolts I had available at the time I had to drill out holes slightly larger than stock, which were subsequently prepped and painted prior to reinstalling.

Those that take their time and order hardware in the stock size beforehand won’t need to do any drilling. Measuring the flaps and making sure they line up takes time, but they came out excellent

As someone who lives in the snow and ice belt I don’t have any rocksalt chipping up my rockers or quarters anymore

@spike_strip those are 70 series gaskets that came in the box with those mirrors, no issues and these mirrors are STOUT

Any chance you have a picture of how you mounted the RockBlokz ? Curious to see how you connected them. Thanks for showing and the great idea!

After spending way too much time and money restoring my OE flaps I decided not to run them. Although they turned out pretty nice, they're just too fragile with the metal reinforcement and I'd just destroy them or knock them off. Tor installed these and they look great. They're bigger than the OE ones which offers a bit more protection for the overhanging tires Not sure the brand, but perhaps @torfab will chime in with a source.

Just wondering if anybody has tried the repro mud flaps on ebay?

I bought some a while back and they are still in the packaging in the garage. I ended up cleaning mine up but would get rid of them if you are interested. Just shoot me a PM and I will pull them out and take a few pics and send a price. They look like quality to me. I just never did the change because my brackets were kinda rusted on and a few other projects got pushed to the front of the line.

Those ones that Tor fitted look really good. I hope he does chime in to say what brand they are.
Alternate Front Mudflaps? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/alternate-front-mudflaps.917570/post-10287041

See posts 10-13, those are Roadsport model 6’s. I ran those for two years before switching to the Rokblokz I have now

for sub 30 bucks they’re not bad - but if you run anything larger than a 32 inch tire they don’t do much. They are also kind of easy to rip off..

Good to know about the Road Sport Model 6's, I've always had my eye on a pair but debated those over the Rokblokz style. Looks like i'll be going for the flat style

I second this. Would be great to have a template to go off of for those of us who can make our own bracketry. My OEM mud flaps went bye-bye years ago and with a now much wider wheelbase I'm seeing a necessity for mudflaps beyond just aesthetics.

Large size or extra?

Large size or extra?
I used The Large, it’s a few inches larger than OEM in length / Width without looking like a 18 wheeler flap

I’ll get some clean photos of the mounts today. Remember I did cannibalize some hardware from the stock flaps, which might be sacrilege to some people here :hillbilly:

Hey we do what we gotta do.

Welp, you know how it goes, spend a couple hours looking around on Mud and end up spending a bunch of money you weren't expecting to.

I have my original mud flaps, they were barely hanging in there when I got the truck. I've thought about restoring them, but they're pretty rough and I wouldn't trust plasti-dip or flex seal to hold them together. So, I ordered two set of the RoadSport Model 6's... guessing they come in two packs, idk couldn't find that info. Once they're in I'll try to remember do a write up or something and take some pics comparing them to the originals.

Attached a few photos for reference, weather is pretty lousy outside so let me know if you’d like more for a template

Thanks @EasternYeti, these look great. Assuming the correct hardware is used and the brackets are intact, where is finesse involved on this install? I'll probably need to fab some brackets myself since mine are mostly gone but I'm almost certainly going to use these mud flaps.
