Augustus McCrae (Gus) quote from Lonesome Dove. One of the best books ever written! And the late ‘80s miniseries is almost just as good as the 1000 page book. Much of it was filmed right around Los Alamos, NM on the Valle Grande. @PabloCruise knows that place well!

I thought that seemed like a random thing to do a wood burning of.
We will have to check out the book, and mini-series. It might be a cool book for the boy to read.
I had no idea they filmed in the Los Alamos vicinity - very cool.

We drove the LX. No way I was going to pack my bride and boy in the Pig and pull the pop-up w/ temps in the mid 90's and no AC.

It’s a terrific read, but not kid friendly. I made my kids wait until after HS to see the movie.

Here’s a snippet on renting pigs from Gus. Also, read the review illuminating review by Aaron on goodreads on the linked page. Lonesome Dove is an absolute masterpiece. Following the threads and personalities of folks on this forum, I expect that there are few who wouldn’t be completely taken in by the story, the drama, the incredible one liners, and all the adventures!

Just on the outskirts of Rapid, I have yet to have a running cruiser when the classic comes around, so not yet. We should meet up, at the very least have a beer or whatever it is you prefer!

Funny there’s a couple of these quotes around the valleys. Always assumed it was an inside joke. I guess there’s some fans locally.
