Dont do it man! the mirrors move in the wind just like the stock tiny 60 mirrors and the euro mirrors. The manual 62 mirrors are undefeated. Just paint them black with SEM trim black
Oh I agree. Problem is how to strip the chrome off a half peeled mirror. Half is gone and half Is locked in place. My past attempt at soaking the parts in bleach made an absolute mess

you could always sand it off if youre really careful and keep it even. I just bought brand new manual mirrors from toyota and as soon as i opened the box i hit them with a scotch brite and painted them

Update and success!

The chrome surrounds and electric motors are identical between the 70 series and the 62. The only difference is the base, but I can now confirm that you can swap the bases from your 62 onto the 70 series mirrors.
Curious - how well these have these held up? I have a set of non-powered 60-series mirrors but would prefer to keep the power option even though I know I rarely use it.

So, I embarrassingly haven’t really driven my 62 in a year, but they were really solid. My only real issue with them is that I think the 70 series left side (62 series driver side mirror) is slightly convex as if you are supposed to be viewing it from a distance. Looks fantastic but when driving it’s hard for me to focus correctly on the reflection (if that makes sense).

Or course all of this should be fixable with replacement mirror glass (which I have) but I have a major backlog in rigs from having too many.
