Replacing rear window runs / guides / channels / tracks (with pictures)

Before buttoning things back up, lube the track with silicon oil (I used the same stuff I use on my garage door tracks) and inspect the remainder of the interior of the door for water damage, etc.

Put everything back together in reverse order, making sure to fully seal the vapor/moisture barrier, (re)secure the door handle mechanism, reinstall the foam around the door handle mechanism and, finally, fish the power window bundle through the hole in the door panel before reinstalling. Also, make sure to test the function before fully buttoning up everything.

Hopefully this is helpful. Feel free to make suggestions and ask questions.

Thanks,
Matt

Thanks. Just posted the link.

Are you planning to do write up for the front or you are already changed them?

Thanks for posting this up. I'm new to the cruiser world and mine needs a fair bit of this and that... and the slow windows fall into the "that" category. I'm sure I'll make use of this in the next month or so.

Where did you purchase the tracks from? Didn't see that listed but maybe I missed it.
Thanks for the write up.

I haven't done them yet as it's the rears that really needed it. However, I may tinker with the front passenger window next week. If I do, I'll take pictures and post up any differences.

I need to do this in my 80 ... if you don't mind .. how much was all 4 guides .?

I paid $225, including shipping (I'm in the US), for all four guides. I bought them from Mud member Akella.

did this this weekend thanks to your fantastic write-up! thanks a TON!

only part that I got hung up on was "feeding the window back in", all I was missing was turning the window glass clockwise one rotation and slipping it in, what a breeze!

Nice write up, thanks for taking the time to do this
