Yeah when I pulled the hose that I had replaced 10 years ago and said wow still looks great should have stuck with it. Well plenty of hose on hand and I’m a fan of the OEM clamps so I’ve reverted to a full OEM setup

If anyone wants a silicon kit message me.

Yeah so silicon PHH is not recommended? Thought that was the ’mud standard for years? Now I have the head sitting on my bench ready to go back in and I’m having second thoughts on that bit of blue hose.
That looks like the Samco silicone kit.
Same one is on mine.

Many silicone hoses have an inherent porosity built in. Many years ago people started using silicone on racecars (that use Waterwetter and not "coolant") since they can stand higher pressures and temps than rubber. But a typical race of a couple of hours, or even 20 mins, wont show much fluid loss. Long term yes, those old silicone hoses will loose coolant. So they did have a bad rap.

Fast forward 20 years and you have manufacturers like Eaton with silicone hoses that are designed for coolant. They will be quite pricey, but the porosity problem is removed and they meet SAE standards. So not all silicone hose is the same, good name brands (Eaton, Parker) designed for coolant will not loose fluid, cheap ones will.

I have searched the forum and can't understand the purpose for the small coolant line that connects to the top right of the radiator. It runs completely parallel to the main coolant circuit and does not warm any part of the throttle body. Any ideas why this bypass was included?

Also mine just blew a hole.

The OG Pesky Heater Hose Kit and FHH Silicone kit has been 100% great in my 1993 80 for 20 years and 200,000 miles. Now I am at 370,000.
OG PHH sells a Gates Green Stripe kit as well.

When I rebuilt the engine at 225,000 I replaced all hoses except the ones from this kit because they were in great shape.
It happens that I bought the kit for LongCruiser before its HG went so I have a 1 year old kit that I will use to replace the hoses on my 93, just because
