Hello...

I did a search on replacement vacuum lines and found a couple of threads but no clear answer...

What I did gather:

1. The two sizes are 3mm and 5.5 mm.
2. The OEM price is $10.00 meter <yikes>

Does anyone have any success stories/sources/part #'s/prices?

Maybe total # of feet needed? Any look-outs?

It would be cool to put this to bed in one post :D

I am not sure if I have a really problem atm, but I figure hoses about to turn 20 years old may be about ready to be replaced

Thanks everyone,

Dan

Someone in my club was able to find silicone vacuum lines for some industrial application that worked great and were WAY cheaper than the OEM stuff.

Silicone is the way to go. I've gotten 3mm id (8mm od) at www.mcmaster.com. I needed between 25 and 30 ft of the 3mm. I've also used their larger diameter tubing, and I have not had any problems but I would rather have something stiffer or with a thicker wall. The large ID tumbing seems to collapse easily. I used the "soft" tubing. I don't know what the "firm" is like.

I've heard you can also get 3mm silicone at parts stores specializing in japanese performance vechicles...

I've used NAPA (NBH) Silicone hose bought in plastic clam shell. I think 6-10 feet long. Works well and adds a little color.

The small OEM vacuum hose is actually 3.5mm in diameter.

Toyota services that hose in lengths of 1 meter and 2/3 meter. The one meter length is about 10 bucks. The 2/3 meter length is about 2 bucks.

I stock both.....:flipoff2:

Ten bucks for a meter? What a rip! :flipoff2:

I am about ready to go with the firm silicone tubing at McMaster Carr. I think it is 3mm too, not 3.5mm. Have to do somemore research to make sure.

I used the McMaster 3mm id x 8mm od, 70 ShoreA durometer and am VERY happy with it. It is stiff enough to handle the vacuum just fine. The 5/32 NAPA stuff is 4mm id. I find it to be a bit loose on the hose fittings.

Replaced most of the vacuum hoses today using the McMaster 3mm id x 8mm od, 70 ShoreA durometer - very pleased with the quality and fit of the tubing compared to the other 2 brands of tubing I tried. I ordered 25 ft and was about 5-10 feet short
- still looking for a good solution for the 5.5mm tubing

really? I am not the shiniest coin the da pond but me thinks the 2/3 meter might be the way to go....................

talk to me ;)

I'm a little late on this, but I wouldn't use the Napa stuff. I used it for my rig and ended up having all sorts of vacuum leaks. The fit is not quite tight enough around most of the fittings. So, I replaced it with the 3 mm stuff from McMaster. I like the fit a lot better. I think I bought 50 feet and ended up having like 15-20 feet extra... (I am de-smogged...). I also am still looking for some to replace the 5.5 mm stuff. If anybody figures something out, post up!
