replacement power steering rack

Which steering rack did you end up with for your 100? My mechanics are quoting me $676 for a remanufactured rack and $909 for OEM. I've read every single thread on power steering racks and still have no solid data on whether to go OEM or rebuilt.
 
I replaced mine with a remanufactured one from Maval. Very happy with it. A lot of bimmer folks use it with great dependability as well.
I did it in N. California with parts and labor, including alignment for $1,100

I vote new OEM! Piece of mind, You don't want to have to dig back in there for a while.
New OEM is $650 from cruiserparts.

+1 for OEM if u can still find them. It was out of stock everywhere when I needed one last year.
 
I replaced with I think master pro from Oreillys but used whiteline bushings. No problems in 6 months or so.
 
^^^^ looks like a crazy good price.
 
Camelback has it for$532 OEM and Brand New. I called in the evening and they have 1 in stock.
 
Anyone know if the mcgeorge rack is OEM, aftermarket, or Remanned?
 
Anyone have any knowledge about BBB Industries remanufactured power steering racks? As much as I'd love to get a new OEM or even a new aftermarket, it's not in the budget. RockAuto has them for ~$275 after sending the core back.


CruiserParts has the component also but the options don't make sense to me. It reads like it starts at $275 then I add $300 because I have an '03 then add more for high quality aftermarket or OEM. The description says that a core is not required but there is a core charge of $200.

Any word back from cruiser parts? So happen to be in the same boat. I was looking to buy the steering rack but ran into the same issues with the added prices like the core etc.
 
I haven’t called yet. I have a bunch on my plate at the moment and this is getting pushed down the road right now.
