well feel free to pm me anytime i must be clear i am far from an expert on this but i do have a list of parts i need and have noticed through my research reading back through threads that many are similar with other pig owners. it seems to me that the only thing keeping more orders from coming is the shipping and confusion over organizing a group order. please anyone out there who would like to see some pig parts a little closer to home write in and let these guys know they can have our money

Hello Everyone,

For those that haven't seen this: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/200557-stocking-parts-pakistan-ehsan.html

So with this agreement I am also looking at stocking 55 series parts, although I am still on the fence with this, so I'm trying to figure out how much demand there is. There appears to be a lot but with that being said Ehsan has made the fender patches and only sold the one set so far.

Please bear with me here as I am not overly familiar with the 55 but I am learning, feel free to educate me on the 55.

So I guess I'm curious what the reason is that the fender patches have not sold so far; is it that there's not real point in fixing the fender if the floor boards are gone? is it the past lack of a distributor? or...... something I'm missing here? or is it a combination of things?

Let me know what you all think,
Graham

As much as I wanted to buy a set of fender patches from Ehsan because of everything he does for the cruiser community I couldn't wait and ended up finding a supplier in AU that made them. I think others jumped on the wagon then. That being said no one has made floorboards, rear corners, or stock rockers. These are the first thing to go on a 55.

Sad part about it is most get a 55 that is to far gone and wheel the hell out of it. As far as restoration folk there are few of us around. I'd start with what everyone needs and move into other areas.

sent a letter to rarespares and this was their reply:bang:

This last fall, I was all set to purchase a set of fender patches from Eshan but had difficulty in working out the overseas payment. We mailed back and forth for some time trying to get it worked out but then lost contact prior to everything being ironed out and the deal completed.

I in no way blame Eshan for any of this and will most likely make contact again this spring to try and get a set.

If someone in the states were to make parts available (i.e. fenders, rockers, floorboards, rear fenders), I would be willing to make purchases.

LXCRSR, I plan on bringing in a few sets of Ehsan's fender patches in with my stock, also if yourself or anyone else is interested in a set of patches before my stock arrives I should be able to get set or two relatively quickly if requested.

Cheers

Welcome to Immortal 4x4

It is a shame that there isn't sufficient demand. While a few people on mud are interested in these, that is just about the extent of the customer base. Most hardcore cruiser fanatics crazy enough to restore a 55 (I'm one of those wierdos) are on mud. I just don't see the target market being big enough to be able to sell a bunch quickly, which is what required by our Middle Eastern Metal Master Eshan.

To make this work, it basically takes a company with enough extra cash to buy all of Eshan's stock and then distribute it at a significant markup. If SOR hasn't done it yet, no one else probably ever will. I know it is pessimistic, but a large amount of those capable enough to cleanly install panels are also capable of fabricating a lot on their own. On the west coast there are still parts pigs in some junkyards with usable panels that are much cheaper than even the cost of reproduction. It almost seems more profitable to collect random pigs and chop up and distribute refurbished panels if demand actually existed.

Now fenders there is demand for. They are bolt on and installable by the shadetree mechanic.:banana: job. I bet a mint fender can fetch $600-700 on eBay if they were slowly released. I still don't see the feasibility in floorboards unless if you go with a replacement without any of the standard ribbing and special tooling.

I would make one thing clear here. Its not the number of parts that is the problem with us. I can get one piece made for the same cost as I can get 50 made. All are hand made. The only thing is that I donot have the cash to buy a 50 and make replicas off of that. If I had one with me, all parts would be available. :)

PS. And I am in South Asia - Pakistan. :).

Ehsan; didn't you have access to a 55 in the past?; your guys did a masterful job of duplicating the fender curves :) the metal in the patches you sent seemed to be better "thicker"than the original we welded them to...........

Lou

OK, I will ask the question; what will it take to have a set of front floorboards fabbed?, are you stumbling on the floorboards to use as a pattern?; if this is the sticking point; in how good a shape do they have to be in to serve as a pattern?.........if the problem is lack of a pattern; how do we get a set to you?; speaking of the fronts only as there are a couple? of variations on the rear floorboards over the years!

Hello..
I had access to a set of whole fenders that we used as templates. We made the pieces thicker then the OEM to increase rust resistance.

To send a template would cost a lot, whatever the condition it is in. :). I need about US$3000 spare cash at least to get my hands on a whole 55 here. (only one is available that I know of.) .
Ehsan

how badly rusted can they be and still be usable as a template?; I know this is a tough question but need to have a general idea as the only ones we would be able to send would be pretty rusted out with a certain degree of holes in them:frown: !

Holes are not an issue. Just post a pic and I can tell you f its fine..

Ehsan, will be attempting to make one good cruiser out of several goners; will have one set of vert rusty holey floorbords...........paper thin in a lot of areas; need suggestions on shipping contacts from you or other members!

Lou

I have some rusty with no holes not yet cut and can ship relatively cheaply but I'd have to know where to cut them out and have a confirmed reason to ship.

lIght to bright right now and dirt on the boards but you get the idea...2 drilled holes on drivers side.
