Replacement carpet kits

Well if anyone is contemplating ordering carpet from these guys; don't hesitate. I couldn't be happier. The color looks perfect now that it's installed.

A few suggestions:

I started with the middle section by cutting out the small rectangle for the center console and then attaching the inside front seatbelts. Make sure you have brand new box cutter blades. The carpet is easy to cut but the thick jute backing is just this side of impossible.

At the seats and the two floorboard seatbelt attachment points (just behind front seats) I cut the carpet out but made the holes a bit small and then crushed the edge of the carpet underneath the metal before bolting things down. It turned out pretty good. For the rollbar, I cut a slit to the edge of the tube (2" diameter) and then cut a 2" diameter hole. The carpet then laid over the mounting flange and bolts.

I removed the two radio bracket mounts that attach to the transmission hump in front of the center console and also removed the very bottom of the AC vent duct that basically touched the transmission hump. They were difficult to remove but it made the install much easier.

Again, I'm very pleased with how it turned out. A few photos (still missing back seats):

so the molded areas fit up with the existing contours of the truck pretty well then huh?

do you anticipate any wrinkles when you finally bolt everything down?

how close was the overall width to being correct? i think i read previously where it was made intentionally wider than required and the customer had to trim. was this the case? how bad?

looks great!!

The molded areas fit perfectly and I don't have any wrinkles. Side to side you need to cut anywhere from 1" to 3" inches off each side but you can do that when you install it or outside. Just make sure you have the middle where you want it.

The part that tucks under the dash had to be cut about 3" +/- and I cut some of it off before I installed the carpet and the rest afterwards.

The middle section had nothing removed front to rear, just side to side but I may yet have to cut some of the 6" or so that is under the rear seats but I will wait until I get those seats installed.

The rear section also had nothing cut front to rear. The sides are contoured up at 90 degrees and I cut almost all of that off except for about an inch which is tucked under the side panels.

Hi WarDamnEagle- thanks for the great post. I have a carpet kit showing up this week and all the photos really help.

I know it's been a couple of years since your post, but I was wondering if you have any photos of how the carpet attaches to the back of the back seats? My truck has some double stick tape on the back of the seats that's has long since failed, and I can't find pics anywhere that show that attachment detail- can't imagine its stock...

I am not near the 4runner but I replaced the seats with some gen2 seats and the carpet doesn't attach to them. At least I don't recall it attaching?? If it does then the hardware was on the seats. It wasn't with tape; that I am certain about.
