Hey Jack,
I was there last Friday for the first time...Its my new favorite place!!!:D
I saw they had the diffs there, and I was thinking how youre thinking, I just havent had time to go yet.
I was gonna pick up the diffs, get a front and rear R and P, and set up kit and give it a go, since Ive never done it before. If I could pull it off, id save my self around 600.00 in labor cost.

Keith

Not to volunteer Shawn without his knowing...ah what the heck...Shawn has set up diffs...give him a call for tips/help.

With a few specialized tools and enough information about setting up gears on the internet, go for it. :bounce: I would like to see someone do it. From my understanding, Toyota's are a little easier than Dana axles.

Jack

Thats what Im thinking...I have more time than I do money!
Thanks gents,

Keith

I dont have Shawns number, but Ill talk to him when I get a bit closer to doing that. I informed missus Chicago that I will be occupying the garage for a while, so her precious 4 runner will have to sit outside for bit. Im planning to start disassembly next week/ weekend since Im off!:bounce2: :bounce:

Keith, FWIW at the time (couple years ago) the 12-ton jack stands were just a few bucks more and they get the rig several inches higher than the 6-ton...which has come in very handy when working on my rig.

Which ones are on sale for $20 this week?

Are you going to scrape her windows when the frost comes? :grinpimp:
It's the right thing to do.

HE HE HE

Yeah, Im a good hubby like that....

BTW, Rusty, when you did your SOA, did you re locate your front shock tabs?
If you have time this weekend, Id like to come take a look at em. The reccomendation in the 60 section is that you mount em like the 40's...I have no visual reference to do this with...
SOOO, if you have time...Id like to come OGLE your rig for a spell.

Lemme know,

The three tons!

Chicago

The six ton set was in the flyer I got on sale for $19.99.

The three ton ones are nice to hold the axles up while you have them out of the rig working on them.

Sure. Just give me a call to make sure I'm home.

I relocated my hangers and wound up flipping the upper shock muont bolt around.
Eventually I will replace the shock towers with ford truck towers and replace the springs with a set of 60 springs I have.

I have some 2.5 tons which Ill use for holding the axel for the work, Ill get the 6 tons for holding the rig up.
I just got back from PnP in Carson...I decided to scrap the used shackles and buy new ones. I pulled the fronts, and started on the rears, and I stopped to look at em...they were pretty thrashed. I now understand the beauty of greasable shackes...These were pretty siezed in the bushings, and I know that down the road ill be happy that I bagged that idea.

BTW, Rusty,
Your avatar trips me out...out of the corner of my eye I catch that lady winking at me, and I end up staring at her to make sure Im not going crazy and to learn wether or not she did, in fact, "WINK" at me.

We can make shackles for you in my garage. Takes about fifteen minutes and a few bucks in materials.
You just need to buy the greasable shackle pins.

Avatar? What? No idea what you are talking about.

Never mind about the shackles. I ordered some from MAF last night!
I did score a set of front axels and birfs while I was a PnP:grinpimp: . Someone took the knuckles, so the work was already done!

What is a better day for you...Sat or Sun or even Friday eve?
I really wanna get a good look at how you have your shocks mounted, and while Im at it, ill take a gander at your limiting strap mount!

The anticipation of This SOA stresses me out! There is SO MUCH to do and think about...Thinking really HURTS me...I try not to do it, but sometimes I just cant help it.

My shocks need work. I think you will get the idea from looking at them. I fabbed up some mount tabs for the rears that sound like exactly what you need for your rig.
