Hi everyone! I am trying to remove front seats to repair the movement. I can see the screws holding the seats on the front. But on the back, it looks like the brackets are covered by a piece of plastic, which does not come off easily. Are there any tricks there?

Thanks

IIRC, the caps lift up slighty and slide back. Either way, they come off. Just apply more pressure. Don't be shy. It's an 80. Treat her properly.

They'll come off, you just got to get a bit aggressive with 'em. Don't go full bear cub, or you might break 'em.

they are pretty sturdy, mine are at least. Do not explode into a million pieces like the moonroof trim. There are just some little tabs on the inside that hook over the edge.

I use a wide flat screwdriver, start on one side of one bracket, slide it under straight from the back, and twist one side of the screwdriver up to pop off the tab.

They are pretty stiff, but durable. Once you get the first one off, look it over and see how it attaches, and it will make more sense. They do "slide off" but they have to unsnap first.

Im interested in what you find re: play. From what I hear the play is worn components, but if you can firm up or take out the play I am all ears.
