removal of the dent's tcase/rebuild thread

gonna try to take some pics as i go along. Hoping to attack the tcase tommorow. Took longer than i liked to disconnect front and rear drive shafts. Think i am gonna reinstall the crossmember before attacking it as well just to be safe. Studying the fsm as we speak...

so here is what happened: Got a jack stand under the tranny. Then the teardown began!

things were going pretty good!!

pic 3 is where the cursing began. I used a crowbar to separate the case and think i accidentally pulled the gears with it. Problem is it is now in a bind because it is attached to the shift linkage still. So can i take a rubber mallet and nock the gears back through the rear of the case so i can remove the rear casing or what??? Or should i take the access panel in the floor off and unattache the linkage so i will drop?? This is how it sets as we speak. The only other thing i have done is put a jack under it so that there is no weight on it.

Secure the case. Remove linkage from top access panel under carpet

got it down today. Worked on it for about an hr. I go back to work today after being off almost 2 weeks. Still got to drop the front half but all the gears are off of it. Still got to take off front lock nut and flange and i am guessing still remove linkage from shifter.

gabe...that totally sucks!

let me know when you get something together.

It's much easier to get the TC on the tranny when it's out of the rig but it makes it hella heavy to put back in. More than i can lift.

maybe someone can help us out with a tranny jack..or someone that can bench 300 lbs....i don't weight but half that.
