So my spare tire is frozen on. Can I unbolt the spare tire mount from the Land Cruiser without removing the tire?

Do we have a new tire carrier/bumper, do tell?

No, I do not I am actually planning on getting one of your interior tire/puma mounts.

As far as a new bumper I am thinking the 4x4Labs rear bumper.

Yes you can unbolt the whole cross member. Did you try soaking it with PB blaster first

Other then Discount Tire trying to remove it. I did not soak anything yet, I will try and unbolt it tomorrow when I have more time in the afternoon.

I would take you up on that but I am at work myself till three, then 600pm dinner with my cousin and his wife.

Have you tried the factory Jack handle to lower the tire? Your original post said you didn't have the tool to do it before you edited it. I know the factory Jack handle it not very strong compared to the 40/55 series handle. Later style was longer and probably reach the 80 series tire winch. Wrong side of town but have a couple of the late 40/55 series handles. Soak it with some that eats rust and probably free it up.

Yes, the guys at Discount tried with what they had available to them.

Time to try mine

Now my question becomes can I remove the spare tire cross member or is it structural?
I plan to have the spare tire either swing arm mounted or roof mounted if that's even legal lol

I ride with my spare in the trunk for now rear seats up and some nice rubber ties holdin her down ;)

Question for you Steve, do you know if one of these chain winches can replace the later cable style Toyota switched too? Even non rusted don't feel as comfortable with cable verses the chain.

idont know but I may know where a chain hoist is so we could compare it to the cable. Assuming the mounting holes are close I don’t see why it wouldn’t be compatible

I have a number of chain winches. Was more curious if it would work. The two cable winches I have both use a 1/2" drive square fitting to operate. All my winches use wide slot (hook end from Jack handle) tool to lower. Never had a issue with the cable it's just having the spare spinning around while lowering and raising is a little unnerving. Can't help but think in the rust belt cable could snap. Would rather have a rusted up chain winch than finding the spare MIA when you need it.
