From what I have read they will all kill the engine once the door is opened. I’ve looked high and low for a bypass and no one has an answer.
so annoying. I also need the drone for gps function etc that i cant get from lexus connect due to the 3g radio blackout. The app could do remote start too if i remember right. Lexus has no program to upgrade to lte 4/5g antenna either and customers are left high and dry.
Can someone help me out with this issue.
My 2018 LC has the Automate Model 7816a remote start and I can't seem to get it working. I really don't want to take it to the dealership so I'm trying to figure this out myself. I purchased the 2018 LC last year and it came with the remote start, dealership didn't say anything about it.
A manual I found online says to press the button once to start the engine, but all it does is lock the truck. I've tried other things like double press, long 1 press, long 2 and 3 press and the engine will not start. All I can get it to do is lock, unlock and cause the lights to blink for a while(car finder mode).
I have noticed that the dash will light up with an orange triangle and say "Smart Key System Malfunction" See Owners Manual. I've looked and can't seem to find anything. Of note my smart key works fine.

Was it working and now it is not? If it was working, I would replace the FOB battery, it could be weak.

This is correct. When you open the door the engine turns off. It's kind of annoying. I did go with an after market one so I can set the run time from 1 to 60 minutes.
Yes, the dealership showed me that it worked once when I purchased the LC. That was over a year ago and I never tried it since until recently. I'll give the battery swap a try and see if that helps. Thanks!
Hey @smoothcruiser , do you happen to know the part # for what they were going to install? I have a 2015 LX and the dealer told me that they can't install a factory remote start on mine...
I had to have the CompuStar repaired in the GF's car repaired a few weeks ago, so I took it to a place that works on a lot of Toyotas. I asked them about bypassing this issue and they told me they have tried everything they can think of to get past it and were unable. Something is baked into the DNA of the security system of them and you just can't get around it. They get this request often, but can't solve it.
