I drove the jack from the RH side (with one dog-chewed sandwich clamp) and you jockey-ed it in from the left front side.

I think I remember it because my hand was hurting after doing the water pump.......:wrench::hillbilly:

That was a busy day for sure!

The gear setup at U-joints will not be completed until some time next week. I will be asking for install help next weekend so if you are interested in coming by, then let me know. We will get started early. The floor jack might work for the diff installs if the Shawn-jack can't make it. I am 100% certain the Greg-jack would never be able to budge that rear diff... maybe the front or a 60 rear, but not the 80 e-locker rear. Did I mention that thing is heavy?

Those wanting to see a front axle & a birf job as it is going back together will get that chance. Same with the rear axle but that is pretty straight-forward.

You could have Greg lay on some pallets, put it on his stomach, then let the air out of the tires.

I could let all the air out of the tires and that wouldn't help a bit. It's up on jack stands. :D

Could we put him on one of those motorcycle jacks?

What day is this rebuild going to occur?

I am available on Sunday afternoon if that is when it will occur.

I can lift that rear diff up. No problem.

:D

and i should be available on Saturday. i do have to check with my scheduler.:D

I got a call from U-Joints about an hour ago and they said the diffs are ready! I am picking them up this afternoon and will post set-up pattern pictures this evening.

Install will start Saturday morning with whichever HDC-jack(s) show up feeling strong. We can give Greg first shot at stuffing the rear diff if he is game. Shawn can spot. :D

Ya know, I installed one of those in da'40, and I don't remember it being a problem. But, I also don't think I had an engine in the way :grinpimp:.

i did one on my 40 w/ original axles on the trail. first waterfall on Poison Spider. i had a spotter that helped with the lift. even got a video of it.

What time?

So is this still on for Saturday?

Yes, the diffs are going back in on Saturday, one way or the other. The rear is almost ready for the axles. Right hub is back on and the parking brake adjusted. Just need to bolt up the caliper on that side. I should have the left side finished tonight too. Brake system is flushed and all 4 calipers loaded with new pads. Drive shafts cleaned and lubed. Birfs disassembled, cleaned, and packed. I'm swapping sides this time. Still need to drive in the knuckle bearing races and start putting the knuckles back together. New lower knuckle studs and nuts.

Reassembly should go fairly quickly tomorrow.
