Hi, I’m thinking of picking up this 01 LX from MA and am not familiar with what to look for.

I asked for undercarriage pics and the owner ended up sharing a video…do yall spot any red flags?

There seems to be some oil leak and rust/paint flaking but not sure what I’m looking at overall.

so that it can rust to death when he brings it back? I don't get this.

Leave the rust free trucks alone.
Lmao, I promise to preserve it with Fluid Film!

I appreciate all the insight, gents, esp the alternative CarFax link.

I also occasionally scan the Cars and Bids and BAT...to be honest, I was losing hope and bid on an '89 Isuzu Trooper on Sun. I didnt win...who knew they also held so much value. On a side note, I have noticed that most SUVs dont seem to get as much love vs their coupe/sedan counterparts, final bid price-wise. Does anyone else get that impression too?

For some reason I never thought to check the classifieds here for whole vehicles, and not just parts. Its good to see there's more options but I see what yall mean about diminishing inventory at this point. Its interesting to see that the concentration of vehicles seem to be out west and south US, and not as many on the east coast. It almost sounds like a new business opportunity to bring them up to New England somehow, to include importing from overseas, especially as the new LC/LX are smaller with less storage capacity, so all previous generations should continue to climb in value.

I kinda like Isuzus, even had a VehiCross for a while .
But the overall quality and dependability will never live up to Toyota/Lexus.

This is what a west coast frame is supposed to look like. Just pressure washed.

I also agree that service records an carfax and looking the vehicle up on Toyota owners group to see what the factory service has been.

Lexus typically have a better service history (more likely dealer maintained) and appear to depreciate faster since they don’t have the LC badge.

Hope that helps.

Why is the muffler so rusty? Was the frame ever painted? Or are you going for the "Patina" look? 😆

That muffler is original to the truck and 26 years old from what I can tell.

Original paint on the frame.

I do appreciate a good patina look though.
