There is some talk of folks camping in the Saints John area Saturday night...

HAMsters (info from Luke):

The CRA repeaters are 147.225 in Denver, and 145.160 in Colorado Springs. CTCSS tone 107.2. They are linked. I know for a fact the Denver repeater can be hit from I25 to Conifer and Bailey, not sure the farther west we get.

I will switch to 146.580 once I lose the repeater.

Just wanted to get this thread up and running. Even thought this was my 2nd favorite trip last year (just behind the Devil's Punchbowl run), I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. I forgot that I promised my father-in-law I'd play in a golf tournament that weekend. :bang: I'm still working on trying to talk him into picking up a alternate so I can go wheeling, so...???

So, when/where do you guys want to meet?

I know the year trail run schedule has this run on the 6th, but what do you guys think of the 20th? Or would that be too late in the season? Aspens turning would probably be better later in the month. But also a greater risk of being snowed out. ???

Greg and I ran it late September last year and it was beautiful:

I'd try for the 20th. I'm off work right now with the new baby so it would probably work better to give a little time.

Congrats man! Glad to hear we've got another future CLC member!

We are in for this as well. Either dates. We've been anticipating this run. Plans for Radical Hill afterwards? Take the Swan Fork (?) out to Breckenridge (near the old dredge).

No solid plans for afterwards. Last year Greg and I hit a few more runs in the area (forget the names) went into Keystone for some lunch, then hit St. John's and something else (forget that name too). So, yeah... Red Cone then more festivities. Radical hill sounds like fun.

Since it looks like most of us are cool with running the 20th, we can discuss the afterwards festivities at the meeting on that Tuesday before the run.

Not going to break my heart if you guys want/need to keep it the 6th. Just mentioned the 20th for my own self-serving reasons. :grinpimp:
I'll be out of town on the 20th. But y'all have fun on Red Cone. I'll catch it next year.

:( Were you planning on going the 6th? We could always move it back.

Me and the wife are thinking of going to Oktoberfest in Breck the weekend before (13/14th) and running Red Cone on the 13th. Looks like I'll be heading to Moab on the 19th, so I'll miss the 20th for the run.

So if anyone wants to run it on the 13th, let me know.

I'm guessing you want us to go on the 20th. :D

Have fun in Breck  and in Moab :steer:.

First off, who is planning on attending? Anyone want to camp? Which way are we going out? Way I figure we have two choices, go out keystone and take Guanella back or come back out back in Bailey somewhere on the trails.

I may be going if I have an elk by then. I would leave Friday and camp somewhere near the trailhead so I could get in a bit of grouse hunting.

Guess I'll have to wait until a later trip to wear my new wheelin' outfit. :(

I'll be happy to meet you guys anywhere. I probably won't be camping on this one since my in-laws have a hot tub and a fully stocked fridge.:beer:

Speaking of :beer:, if we wanted to end our trip in the Keystone area (coming back in through Montezuma) we could always stop by the Dillon Dam Brewery or Pug Ryan's for some good food and good beverages. :D
