Here are the state requirements for Maryland and Assateague Island.

Would love to hear what else you guys carry or what versions of listed items below.

OSV operators in designated zone must carry the following equipment:
- A shovel with a blade at least 6" square and at least 18" long.
- A vehicle jack sufficient to lift one wheel clear of the sand.
- A jack support that is at least 12"x12" of non-bending steel, 5/8" plywood or 1½" hardwood.
- A tire gauge with a minimum reading of 15 pounds or less.
- A tow rope or tow strap, chain or cable with a minimum pulling strength of 6,000 pounds and at least 10 feet long. Minimum diameter is ½" for nylon or Dacron ropes; ¾" for all other ropes; ¼" for carbon steel cable; 5/16" for chain links.

An air compressor.

Leave the chain at home. A bridle is a much better option if you're being recovered - which also begets solid, frame-mounted tow pointS f&r.

Some of those fancy recovery boards, like tred or maxtrax. If you don't feel like shelling out for them, then carpet, sticks, whatever you can find to shove under the wheels. However, I've found on the OBX that if you're buried to your frame, all you can do is ask someone for a tug.

A winch is also good for beach self-recovery. Go bury your spare a hundred feet out, hook up to it, and engage the winch.

That’s basically all I carry when going to OBX.
Additionally I have VIAIR compressor that’s always in the rig, shackles and other standard recovery gear. If you want to get fancy, Maxtraxx definitely will do the trick and can be used as a shovel.
I doubled up some plywood for extra strength and if there was extra room, threw 2 short sections of boards in the back to use if needed.

And if heading to Asseteague, carry lots of bug spray!

Thanks for the input. I have a Viair compressor and amazon knockoff maxtrax. I also have a large nylon tow rope.

Would you carry a special jack?
Would you suggest a folding shovel?

Air down and consistent skinny pedal.

And yes bring a shovel. A folding shovel is good for a :poop: hole so bring a real shovel.

Probably TMI but I did learn how to use the folding shovel as a seat for business if you know what I mean.

Go to the end 4:00 of this video.

I spent 14 years in the Infantry and a buddy of mine just showed me the "E-took-poop-stool" trick for the first time last week.

There's been a lot of sore thighs after weeks of eating MREs that could have been avoided with that gem!

The E-Tool is good but if you have room for a short D-handle shovel, that will make life a lot easier if you were to bury the truck to the axles.
I haven’t mounted mine on the GX yet, but had it previously mounted to the FJ roof rack with quick fists. Worked well and always useful.

Got all but the winch and snatch block...

I am hoping the rear hitch and front tow hook will suffice until I can get a bumper.

I need to install my tow points from Trail Tailor- he also has them for 460. Treaty Oak Offroad also offers tow points for the 120.

I'll have a heavy duty rear tow hook in the next week as well. All with a inner radius chamfered eye to use with soft or steel shackles.

For the front, I used the factory tie-down points. As I mentioned above, a bridle (esp a load-equalizing style) is a great thing to have for the front - hook up to both points and have the other vehicle tug you. I had to get pulled from deep soft sand and this worked well. I'll invest in some proper front recovery points shortly...

Great to hear another option is coming out!

Will the 100 series tow points fit on the rear of a GX470? I think I saw a post somewhere where someone did that but I can't find it anywhere anymore.

Not without drilling a new hole in it like the customer drilled in the 100 series to make the holes match up. The GX470, GX460, LC200, LX570, Gen 4 & 5 4R and FJC REAR all share this new rear tow point/ bolting pattern.
