We got our recall notice for our 14 LC a few days ago.And no timeline yet for fix as stated in previous reply’s.

Just got mine too...and mine's 11 years old...

Are Lexus and Toyota dealer’s still unable to sell the 200 series

I was able to pick mine up last Saturday (2019, New). Visited three dealers all were ready to sell so I assume that sales have resumed. Though I wouldn't be surprised if I learn otherwise. The rig I got was delivered a couple weeks ago at the time of purchase. If that matters.

IIRC the more recent trucks don’t require any parts, just moving and taping a harness. So they are easy to perform the recall on and allow to be sold.

It’s the earlier model trucks that need a new seatbelt assembly and will take longer.

So anyone know what the remedy is ? My recall says dealer will “modify” a vehicle that can receive it. If the modification is not done by June, the seat belt will need to be replaced.

When inquiring today at the dealer, I asked the tech to see if she could find out what the fix is. She told me they said “they put tape over it” and are not aware of any other fixes at this time. Any ideas anyone?

Why would it be?

If the problem is the harness pulling on something or rubbing along an edge and chafing, some simple tape could avoid damage completely. Why would they do any more?

As I posted earlier in this thread, I am advised that the solution for the 2013 LC is:

I received my letter today as well. For my 2013 LC200 they state the fix will be the replacement of the front passenger seat belt assembly with a completely new unit. Of course, those parts are not currently available, but they will send me another letter when they are available.

I was further advised that the particular fix applied varies by model year. For the 2013 LC the fix procedures and parts required have not yet been finalized. This means the fix is weeks to months away. Other model years may already have a remedy in place and can be addressed immediately. Unfortunately, our 2013's will take longer.

No joke. Maybe the gal was talking about the "modification". As attached says, they will modify if brought in by a certain date. If not, then the fix will be applied. But she did say that the tape was the fix. The reason im asking is that I currently dont have the issue. OTOH, not sure I want something taped then pulled apart if and when, only to be fixed at a later date.

Yeah, @ToyotaTrk was posting "they put tape over it" in reference to his 18. That's why I questioned it being a joke.. From the beginning the more recently built trucks were going to be "modifications" and not parts replacement.. that can definitly be as simple as "putting tape over it" if that's all that is needed to avoid problems.

But my dealer told me even the tape solution for my '17 requires a special tape from Toyota that is not in stock yet. Not a good dealer, so they may not have known what's going on, but here we are in April '19 after the recall was announced in the fall of '18. Not a good response on Toyota's part!

Agreed. I have 2 200s, and neither has been fixed by Lexus or Toyota. Neither has had any information when I've emailed and spoken to them while in for other stuff which is very frustrating. Worse yet, I've gotten some blatantly wrong information like people telling me it was the same as the Takata inflator issue which is NOT correct. Even in Denver which has to be one of the top 3 200 markets in the US, they don't seem to sell enough for many people to have good knowledge of the trucks.

I do need my front passenger seat and the size of a Land Cruiser, especially since my family was going to Colorado for Spring Break. So on this issue, I would say Toyota did do things right at least by me.

They took my LC in and put me in a Nissan Armada, even though it was more money than they were supposed to pay under the recall notice, because we needed that much room for the family to take the trip. So first of all, good job on customer service to Toyota Corporate and Toyota of Dallas for putting me in touch with corporate to make it happen. Although, a two wheel drive Armada ain't a Land Cruiser it is about the same size. We were skiing, not off roading and it fit my purposes. I felt like they were doing what they could and that counts.

The service tech did say that they were week to week checking to find out the fix, but he had no idea what it would be or when it would be. I call in weekly, its been about 4 weeks/almost 4,000 miles at this point but those are all highway miles and my next camping trip isn't for a while. Therefore, I am happy as a clam putting those miles on a loaner. The tech did say whenever the fix came out, I would be at the front of the line since they are paying for a loaner.

That’s some crazy shat, we all would to put thousands of miles on that loaner you definitely have a good dealer 👍

My airbag light came on my 2010. Called my local dealer and they offered to give us a SUV rental for free until the fix was offered. Only catch is I have to leave my cruiser at the dealership during this time. Not sure how I feel about it sitting for months on the lot.

Wow. I was told that no loaner given as the fix is going to be less than a day. Doesn’t take long to stick a piece of tape somewhere I guess.

I think that means your airbag isn’t working on the passenger side so by telling Lexus that it wasn’t working they are now liable that’s why said they want to get you in the SUV loaner
