There is really no date. You have to look at your gear.

Got mine a few days ago.... Not putting it in until the old one breaks again, but I can tell it will work great.

Cheers to you Cork! :smokin:

cork426 - thanks for getting this rolling earlier this year and posting Don's info.

I called and spoke to Don yesterday. He has both gear styles available, made from steel. He seemed super nice on the phone. Send him a check, he'll send you a gear.

One thing about the old plastic gear is that it served as the "fuse" in the system. A steel gear won't break. Maybe adding a lower rated fuse to the motor circuit would be a good idea? So when/if the window jams, the motor itself doesn't become the "fuse" by blowing.

I would like to buy one also. My 55 is a 77 but built in Oct 76. The gear is in 4 pieces, how can I tell by looking at it that is the older or newer? Thank you.

Im interested in a motor gear. Ive got a 73 55. Im notbsure which style gear i need. Mine is MIA. If youre still making them i can send dinero.

Hi, are you still shipping out the rear window gears? Is all the information on the thread still relevant. If so I will send you money ASAP. How do you prefer to be paid? It appears I have an old-style as the center is different than the ones pictured.
Thanks
Jesse

See my post above (#29) for Don's contact phone number. I bought an early gear from him a few months ago - works great.

So are we contacting the guy making them or still going thru Cork? I need two new style (for 78s) and one for a 69-72, I have not pulled the one in the 69 to make sure which one it is..

I just called him. Nice guy, sending a check today. I have his PO Box # if anyone needs it.

I wanted to clean up this thread and summarize my experience. Hope this helps anyone else in need of a gear.
Just because no one ever posted a pic of the old gear, here is mine (plastic + metal version, 1st picture) vs newer gear (2nd picture). Obviously the difference is in the center.
It appears I threw away my note with his PO Box on it. This is all of his name/address minus the actual PO Box #. He said the old gears are 68-72 and the new gears are 73+. All are $65 and he just wanted a check. Give him a call first so he has a heads up and get his box # or you could risk it and just send to his physical address below.
