Yes. I got foam in today, and it holds 3 rifles in complete comfort and safety. It is actually a fair amount of space. I made the seat about 3" narrower and took about 3" off the top. It works great.
It's just an idea of getting the most usable space. I now have over 12" on the floor behind the front seats for equipment.

Oh, I was hoping you were going to retain the stock seats, and have storage, none the less, still cool.

I have no need for rear seats. 4 yrs ago I took some people home in a snowstorm, haven't had to use the seat since. This is a purpose built expedition rig. Small steps. After many years travelling on motorcycles, I've learned how valuable space is. Pack what you think you need, then get rid of half of it.

I still like rear seats, though its seldom there is a passenger back there.

My thinking is this: for wheeling, I usually have a winch wench in the front passenger and gear somewhere in the back or on the lid. If I break down on the trail and cant get it off the trail that trip I will need a ride out and back to recover it. I will now need space in someone else's vehicle and room to take whatever small expensive gear I have for transport. The same would apply to those I go wheeling with, and that can require alot of room if its a family of four that has issues, even if spare passenger seats are amongst another couple vehicles...

I try to take what I need and a few spares, but leave the interior with as much free space as possible. Having an auxillary fuel tank underneath, or rear storage built in or anything that moves the storage of gear from inside the vehicle to out of sight or well secured to the exterior of the vehicle has really big gains for a wheeler or expo style rig IMO.

Maybe once this is done I'll post a pic. You'll see where I'm going with it. I don't generally leave anything behind I require. Each to their own.

I like it!

I removed my back seat (back and bottom) several years ago and added my plat form and really like all the space. This idea is great.

Good luck.

Saw it today, very nice..

Thanks for picking up the compressor..

Thanks for the compliment. :)

I'm not sure I can find the time to do another. Logistics of trying to find a set of seats to strip down as well. I have more pictures of the job. I could send them email to you if you like. I purposefully built it to not be fancy, I think you got that point. I'm really happy with it. The foam was $40 here, it's that grey eggshell. I got the foam that was 4" thick, haven't stuck it in. My truck is all jacked up right now, I'll lower it tomorrow and put the foam in and add another picture of it with the 3 guns. PM me with email address if you want more info, or a phone number and I can call you, no big deal.

thanks man, PM sent

After 2 yrs, I'm really happy with the convenience of this storage area. The gun thing is ok for boltless weapons, shotgun, pump .22
But mostly, my awning poles, axes, small shovel, fishing rods, booster cables. That stuff never leaves and is always there.
