Got the 38 on! Old stock laying around. Started right up, revved through the roof. Got the linkage stop screw backed out a bit but still idles high. Went for a ride, and this thing went from the little pickup that barely could, to the little truck that can! Perhaps I am overstating this, but it's definitely made a difference. No turning back now. Just got to tune it a bit.

Will finish editing teh video I took and will post that in here to see the differences.

Guys, WTH, I am not happy with the 38 either. Fudge! It's too rich and top end is still less than the Aisan. Darn it. I don't want to get headers, nor mess with getting a new cam either. Will the factory carb work with a total desmog? That thing propelled me to 100mph!!

I have a rebuilt OE carb that was perfect. Had it on the truck only for a few months before I decided to desmog. According to LCE, if you remove all th3 vacuum actuated stuff, the OE carb may not function properly. I may just gave to try it out before anything. I have a brand new 32/36 that I put on right after I finished putting the truck together, seems underpowered in the top. The 38 has loads of power and torque down low, but lacks at top. The OE was just right. The 38 also seems to overfuel. I'm going to take a long drive today, couple hundred miles to see if I like the 38, and to see fuel consumption.

I did, lots of research. Everyone is split dead in half as far as the carb preferences go. I will use whatever works for me. Right now I'll be using the 38 to see how it works out.
The thing is the truck starts right up and doesn't miss a beat. I just couldn't believe that it runs out of breath above 80 mph. Anyway, I don't drive this at over 75 but the stocker pulled all the way to 95pmh.
Ill be driving as is for now. Swapping carbs is a 20 min deal anyhow.
Thanks all for your input.
The video is still being edited.

And since I am pai ting all my cars, might as well paint this one too! Shrug...
