Finally decided to flip the rear springs on my 40. Mainly for tire clearance and wheelbase. Way better departure angle and more balanced look with 37s (in my opinion) are great bonuses.
I put off this job for a long time because I was nervous about drilling through my brand new leaf springs. I was imagining buggering up the military wrap leaf, not being able to drill through. Consulted the internet and the internet told me to use a concrete/ceramic drill bit on low speed on drill press with lots of tap magic for lube. Worked perfect. Took my time and did each hole in 10 minutes. Marking the hole with a center punch to drill is the most crucial part of this whole job. You don’t want the hole to be off for the center pin, that would be a disaster.
I also had to remove, modify, reinstall a welded-in cargo box in my cargo area so I could flip shock mounts to the rearward side of rear crossmember. That was also a pain in the ass, but worth it.
Overall very happy with the results.
