What is it like redoing the quarter panels with the liner on it. Did you have to remove it all from the whole panal, fix, then reline. Or was it possible to blend affected areas?

I was able to peel it off the rear quarter panel and the 2 doors. Then I did the body work. I left the Liner on the front fender and then I re-sprayed the liner, it blended in pretty good.

I had the perfect opportunity to test these out this weekend and they worked great. Rubbed pretty hard a few times and no new dents on the body. Just lost paint on the bars. I am pleased with the results.

Looks good man
I need to redo mine in a bad way
Even though mine did protect me this weekend from a couple of trees jumping out at me.

Sweet setup, good to hear that it works as designed and prevented more bodywork.

I was thinking of doing this same thing with my 4Runner. but I want a "full" roof rack. And I feel as if I did that, tied it down onto my sliders, and near the rear bumper. it would look too much like a cage :/

Like you, I don't want mine to look like a cage. I am having second thoughts about the rack idea myself, but still plan on connecting bothe sides with the hinged & pinned back bar.

I think if you did as good a job with an exo as you have with the quarters it would actually look good. I've seen some nice looking exo's, the ugly ones are just cause people aren't that good at it.

Looks so sweet ! Nice work dude !

I know my half ass rear quarter protection deflects into the body but it does the job
I am sure you will experience some sort of deflection because of the lack of upper support
Also when you have liner on the body the deflection does not matter so much

Did you experience any deflection into the panel on the bigger hits?

I definitely took a couple of hits and if there was deflection, it didn't cause any dents. It's nice to not have to do body work, ;).

Sweet, tuck a piece of cardboard behind to repaint from the way it looks. Good work!

Pulling up an old thread but did you ever connect the top for more strength? If not how are they holding up? Looks great and I am sure its very effective on keeping the body straight.

He sold that. His rig looks like this now.
