Oh I did call BudBuilt too for an update today, still no bueno on these skids. In development but "low on the list" was the answer I got. No time frame.

Also, running another batch of rear tow points and all will be soft shackle radiused.

Bumping this thread. I went with Trail Taylor and they’ve been OK except I keep breaking the two little self tappers. Then the guard rotates down I actually had to duct tape one to the frame at Moab which held all the way home. It does not look like Bud ever got his design into production. I’m wondering who else makes these things and is there a product that I could just weld on the guard? I would grind it to remove it if necessary.
It’s been a few months but when I spoke with Bud he said they were still going to be produced. He said check back in a few months. Might be worth calling him.
This isn't good to hear. I just ordered the Trail Taylor ones even though I didn't like that you have to drill to get them installed.
Can you weld the TT ones on, instead of bolting them on with the 2 self tappers?

That hole is right there
. I may drill 1/4 hole and put a through bolt in as a pin. The issue with that is that the guard doesn’t rotate up all the way to cover the hole. Plus the weld in the other side of the guard is cracked. I’ll just replace with something else this winter.I drilled out one of the holes for the self tapper and ran a tap through it and put an M8 bolt in for now. We’ll see how that works for now.

No joy
I bought some of these, and this is why I have not installed yet. Not stoked on those self tappers. I've been wanting to figure something else out for them. Spent the week in the San Juans and got hung up on the control arm mount, so this is back on my radar. I think this would have been the result had I had these skids mounted. Could another hole be drilled for a long through bolt through the unused forward hole on the factory mount? I need to crawl under there and figure something out.

Probably. I say probably because my guards, when they are in position, do not completely cover the existing hole. I’ve thought about trying a 1/4” bolt to act as a pin.
The bolt in my last pic is not a self tapper. I tried drilling out the original hole and then using an actual tap to cut threads. The problem is that I used too large of a drill bit so my threads are crappy. I think if I had cut threads correctly it would work. But a through bolt in the existing hole would be much better.
For my next trip (COTR) I’m going with Gorilla tape. That’s how I field fixed it in Moab and it held up until I got home and tried the bolt again.
I tapped a couple of mine as the self tappers wouldn’t hold on install. It isn’t very thick sheet metall at the frame, I’m surprised it has lasted as long as it has.

Unfortunately, I tagged my RLCA bracket on a narrow washed out trail in La Rumorosa, Mexico. I wanted to stack rocks, but there were signs of possible cartel activity close by and the sun was getting low.
I tagged the brackets last April on Hell's Revenge, but this time, I'm more worried since the OEM radiused bend is becoming a 90 degree fold. The photos are after I had already pried the bracket out a bit.
I reached out to @Taco2Cruiser and Bud Built today, and don't think the Bud Built-style skids will be produced.
That having been said, I think I'm going to try making my own or getting a fabrication shop to make some. Could @Markuson or @JohnJB please take some photos of the skids on insides and outsides of their frame rails? I would like to see how the forward-most and highest fasteners attach.

Bud was at COTR in Tennessee last month and brought his current prototype and tried test fitting them on several 200s. They need some tweaking and didn’t quite fit any of the 200s. The design is evolved from the set @Markuson has and will be great. Just need to make them a tad wider for fitment. I believe bud intends to produce these, but don’t know his timing.
I’ll be interested. My prototypes are massively protective. Just a tad o structive in certain crazy situations. Its only ever been an issue one single time in a very strange spot.
