Let the g/f borrow the 80 last weekend, rear latch won't open from the outside now

It will open from the inside. checked the child-safety switch, ideas

Lube??

Hi,

I had a similar prob several weeks ago... my 6 yr old operates the latch for the most part. Upon closer inspection, the latch from the outside was "binding" and not releasing. A quick shot of WD40 fixed the prob.

I hope this is an easy fix for you.

Rob

Sometimes the mechanism inside the panel covering the inner workings of the hatch is bent from use. Take this panel off and operate the door from both the outside and inside levers and the cause of the problem should be apparent. I had the opposite problem that you described and was able to fix it in about ten minutes.

yup, a piece came unconnected inside the door. took ten minutes to fix. I luv this truck.

EnDLeSS- you need to read the above posts- it wasn't the switch module.... :flipoff2:

The child lock de-activates opening from the Inside, not the outside. Remove the trim panel and get a look at the control rods.
