I had resoldered a rear heater core before...however...this one is leaking from the typical front as well as 2 slits in the core tube...the 2 splits are in the same tube...both on the outside.

has anybody done a fix to this type of situation? should I dill a small hole at the ends and then solder the slit?

also has anybody thought of a way to stop the kids from stepping on the rear heater

Had a friend welded up a angle iron cage with expanded metal sides and a hefty piece of steel on the top to armor his. Worked grat to keep gear from hitting it as well.

I had a pristine looking core with a split just like that... A local rad repair shop soldered it and it seems to be holding up fine (even with the kids standing on it).

Metal cage would help to protect it... Or legs attached between the floor and the top. If you've got one of the older and heavier steel tops rather than the stamped steel one my 74 came with it would be very tough.
